NEPHI PUBLIC LIBRARY RECEIVES GRANT AND MOVES INTO FUTURE

Nephi Public Library proudly announces that we have received the Koha Aspen Migration Grant 2026. This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Utah State Library Division.

The grant was opened to rural and small libraries to assist in computer library systems, and cataloging conformity for Utah State Libraries. “Our library applied, knowing that we needed to better serve our patrons and assist the library in future growth. We are honored to be a recipient of this grant,” stated Library Director Ruth Bonzo.

So, what does this mean for the library going forward? Nephi Public Library has, for the last 13 years, used a Library System called AGVerso; this will change to the new Utah State Library Preferred Library System KOHA/ASPEN. This change will move all records of items, patrons, and library programming information into a new and more powerful library system.

Patrons of the Nephi Public Library will be able to search the library catalog more easily, see recommendations, and feel improvements in the check-in and check-out process. This program is also designed to accommodate a higher volume of patrons. It is not without its hiccups, though. “Patrons' Libby service will be affected by this change; it will remove login information. All patrons will need to log back into the system, and we apologize for the disruption,” stated Bonzo.

PUBLIC NOTICE!

We will be closed next week to bring to you a new library catalog and computer system. This will close our library from Thursday, April 23rd, to Saturday, April 25th.

Our library will be open for storytime on Thursday for its scheduled time, but will close to the public after that to navigate the change and train employees. We apologize for the inconvenience.
