Rainbow Fentanyl was seized in Franklin County recently (see pic below). Talk to your kids about the dangers of taking anything that they do not know what it is and/or who it came from. Adults only take what is prescribed by your doctor and that is from a pharmacy.

"Do not be fooled by appearances – rainbow fentanyl is death disguised as candy,” Attorney General Yost said. “The bottom line is this: If you’re taking a pill that wasn’t prescribed by your doctor, you can’t be certain of what you are consuming.”

You or some one you know suffering from addiction, need help with mental health, or homeless? Contact CPD's Social Work, Joanna Denny, at 740-656-1084 or [email protected].

Our department would like to share some important features we have available on our smartphones that could assist first responders in treating you or identifying you in an emergency situation. This feature recently helped us in identifying a person in a medical emergency and we hope it can help you or family member. It doesn’t matter if you have an iPhone or android device since both come with this feature.

For iPhone users, go to your settings then health and then the medical details tab. You can then enter your name, d.o.b. and blood type. You can then use the medical Identification tab to enter even more details such as medical conditions, allergies, what medications you currently take and even your height and weight. Most importantly you can also attach an emergency contact(s).

For Android users, you go to settings, then safety and emergency, and then the medical tab. You can then enter your name, medical conditions, allergies, medications you currently take, blood type, address, and emergency contact(s).

This feature will show up on your lock screen even if you have your phone protected with a password, fingerprint or facial recognition turned on by hitting the emergency button. We hope this information is helpful and please feel free to reach out us if you have any questions.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost recognized the Hocking College Police Academy on January 19, 2023 as a STAR Academy, a designation reserved for agencies that go above and beyond in their basic training of peace officers.
To be recognized as a STAR Academy by the Attorney General’s Office, a basic training academy must pass a rigorous review of its policies and methods by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA).
Hocking College’s police program was established in 1968, the year the college was formed under the name Tri County Technical Institute. Students have thrived in the program and achieved professional distinction. In fact, former OPOTA Director Mary Davis is a graduate.
With more than 30 instructors with expertise in a wide range of law enforcement subjects, the Hocking College Police Academy provides cadets with a broad understanding of police work.
Additionally, the academy helps area police departments to rapidly train new officers and keep them close to home. Hocking’s most recent academy began Jan. 5 with 12 students. Our next academy starts August 9, 2023.
The Hocking College Police Academy is the 14th agency statewide to receive the attorney general’s STAR designation.
