🚪❄️ PARENTS! HAVE YOU STEPPED THROUGH THE WARDROBE YET? 🦁📚

Looking for a little adventure to share with your kids this October? We've got just the thing! Our next The Book Was Better? night is coming up, and this month we're traveling to the magical world of Narnia with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis! ✨ Four siblings. A mysterious wardrobe. A land trapped in an endless winter. A powerful witch. And a lion who might just change everything. 🦁❄️

Here's our challenge to families: READ THE BOOK BEFORE YOU WATCH THE MOVIE! 📖🎬

We have copies available at the Neligh Public Library for you to check out and take home. Read a chapter together before bed, take turns reading aloud, or let your kids dive into the adventure themselves!

Then join us on Thursday, October 15 at 6:00 PM to watch the movie together and settle the ultimate debate... 🏆 WAS THE BOOK BETTER?

Did the movie bring Narnia to life the way you imagined it? Were your favorite scenes included? Did the characters look the way you pictured them? We want to hear what YOU think!

📚 **Book:** Generally recommended for ages 8–12, but wonderful for older readers and families too!

🎬 **Movie:** Rated PG.

❤️ And remember, our *The Book Was Better?* series isn't just for little kids! We'll be exploring books and movies for different ages throughout the year, so there's something for everyone.

Stop by the library, grab a copy, and start your adventure! There's still time to discover what's waiting on the other side of the wardrobe. 🚪✨

It was supposed to be the centerpiece of the evening.

But when the time comes to reveal The Lost Ledger… it isn't there.

Someone at the library knows what happened. Everyone has a reason to be suspicious. And we're going to need YOU to figure out the truth. 👀

Join us this Friday, October 9 from 5–7 PM for Mystery Between the Shelves, an interactive mystery fundraiser supporting the Neligh Library Foundation!

🔎📚 WHAT IS MYSTERY BETWEEN THE SHELVES? 📚🔎

We’ve been talking about it…but what exactly IS Mystery Between the Shelves? On Friday, October 9 from 5–7 PM, the Neligh Public Library is turning into one BIG interactive mystery—and YOU get to be the detective! 🕵️

Here’s the story…

📖 A mysterious old journal known as The Lost Ledger is supposed to be unveiled during the library’s literary costume party.

There’s just one problem. It’s GONE. 😱

And everyone at the party seems to have a reason they might have wanted it to disappear… That’s where YOU come in!

🔎 Question the suspects
🔎 Search for clues
🔎 Compare their stories
🔎 Explore our Mystery Bookshelf Gallery and guess the books that inspired each display
🔎 Figure out WHO took the Ledger, WHY they took it, and WHERE they hid it!

And solving the mystery isn’t the only thing happening!

💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month 💜

This October, Neligh Public Library is proud to collaborate with Bright Horizons to help raise awareness and support our community.

Throughout the month, we will have a special display featuring 20 books and an audiobook focused on domestic violence, healthy relationships, support, and healing. These resources are available for anyone in our community to easily check out and explore.

Sometimes, a book can be the first step toward understanding, support, or hope. 💜

We invite you to stop by the library, take a look, and connect with these resources.

Something has gone missing at the library...and we need your help to solve the case.

Join us Friday, October 9 from 5:00–7:00 PM for Mystery Between the Shelves, an interactive, family-friendly mystery fundraiser at the Neligh Public Library!

📜 THE CASE:
A mysterious historical ledger has recently resurfaced in Neligh and was supposed to be unveiled during the library's annual literary costume party. There's just one problem... The Ledger has disappeared.

It was seen inside the library shortly before the event. No one has left. That means the person who took it—and the missing Ledger itself—may still be somewhere between the shelves. 👀

That's where YOU come in.

🔎 Explore the library and search for clues.
🎭 Meet a cast of suspicious characters and question them yourself.
📝 Compare stories and decide who you believe.
📚 Visit our Mystery Bookshelf Gallery, where local groups have transformed giant bookshelves into secret book-inspired displays. Can you guess which books they represent?
🕵️ Put all the evidence together and submit your final accusation: WHO took the Ledger, WHY did they take it, and WHERE did they hide it?

And because this all takes place during a literary costume party, we encourage you to come dressed as your favorite book character! 📖✨ Costumes are welcome but absolutely not required.

There will also be additional fundraising activities, treats, and opportunities to support the library throughout the evening. More details—including admission and special Detective Kits—are coming soon!
