2019 Shop With a Cop

12/02/2019

The Clark County County Law Enforcement Association (CCLEA) is pleased to announce its 6th annual Shop with a Cop function this year. CCLEA has worked hard throughout this year and previous years and is looking forward for the opportunity to interact with children of Clark County, which we all have known to call home. This year Shop with a Cop will take place at Russell's of Neillsville, 1008 East Division Street, in the city of Neillsville on December 7, 2019. Shopping will start at 10:00 AM, with a lunch provided at 12:00 PM at the Loyal Fire Department.

Shop with a Cop gives children and officers alike, a chance to interact and have fun, while the children buy Christmas Gifts for themselves or whoever they wish. CCLEA also purchases clothes and winter attire for participating children and their sibling (s). Santa has visited children in past Shop with a Cop's, and we are told he might stop by this year as well. This event has proven time and time again, of leaving an positive impact between our counties children and the first responder's that serve this county. Many interactions last well beyond the event.

This event has served hundreds of children and their families since originating in 2013. Each child, once paired up with a law enforcement officer, generally gets about $100.00 to spend on what they wish. Many times, children will slightly go over budget as their faces light up with gifts and officers cover the cost out of pocket.

In August of each year, CCLEA also hosts a golf tournament, with the proceeds going to Shop with a Cop. We encourage the public to attend this fun event, for a good cause. All money raised for Shop with a Cop is used for the event. The money raised is spent locally, supporting local business. The money is also used to support local children who are from Clark County. Last year 60 children participated in shopping and this year we expect about 33 children, with about 70 people attending the lunch. CCLEA has raised thousands of dollars for this event over the past 6 years and are extremely grateful for this years sponsors:

Granton Convenience Store (Granton), C&J Auto (Loyal), Neillsville Optimist Club (Neillsville), Smith Brothers Meats (Colby), County Market (Abbotsford), Colby Chrysler (Colby), Gauger Ventures (Loyal), Rotary Club (Granton), Thrivent (Colby), Embroidery Express (Colby), OEM (Neillsville), Gross Motors (Neillsville), BLA Auto Services (Neillsville), Mullins Dairy (Marshfield), Hardees (Colby), Brickyard (Neillsville), Tesmer's Town and Country Bar (Colby), Worden-Wachsmuth Law Office (Owen), Master Package Corporation (Menomonie), A & B Processing (Stratford), Felker Brothers (Marshfield), Mike's Tires (Loyal), Bull's Eye Sports (Marshfield), Foremans (Loyal), Kwik Trip (Loyal), North Side Elevator (Loyal), Vita Plus (Loyal), Smith Feeds (Loyal), Colby Metals (Colby),Author Dick Lange donating money from his book sales and LilliAnn, Annaliese and Oakley Schwantes for donating their earnings from a lemonade stand.

We thank the Loyal Fire Department for hosting the lunch at their hall and showing participating children their trucks and equipment. We also thank Russell's of Neillsville for stepping in and hosting the shopping portion. This is much appreciated after Shopko closed their retail locations, where shopping occurred in the past. We are thankful for the support Shopko has showed us in previous years. We would also like to thank all the fire, ems, first responder's, corrections officers, dispatchers and police that have worked hard throughout the year to make this event possible and for what you do every day.

We hope to continue the event year after year. If you or somebody you know is willing to make a contribution to CCLEA for future Shop with a Cop events or you have questions about it, please contact Sgt. Wade Hebert (Clark County Sheriffs Office), Officer Shar (Loyal Police Department) Officer King (Neillsville Police Department), Lt. Hanna (WI DNR) at 715-743-3157.

We at CCLEA thank you for your hospitality and support for this event and during our day to day duties

Thank You and Merry Christmas,

Pretty cool deal today, on behalf of the Clark County Sheriff's Office, Sgt.Schwantes, Sgt.Hebert, Detective Struensee and Victim Witness Coordinattor Orth were able to present Ana and Peter with Awards for Valor today at the end of the Granton School Christmas program. What this young lady and young man did on the night of November 8th was absolutely extraordinary, and today they received an award in recognition of that. They earned it! Thanks to Granton Schopl District for helping us make this happen and keep it a surprise!

Well not everything will always go as planned..despite Life Linkiii’s best efforts we were not able to get Santa in the helicopter...but we adapt and things went very well today...kids had a wonderful time as did their shopping partners! Huge shout out to everyone that makes this happen every year and those who donate countless hours preparing this event. We would like to thank ShopKo, Abby County Market, Smith Bros Meats, Colby Chrysler Center, Conway Shield, Weber’s Farm Store and Mullins Cheese..these businesses made it possible for us to serve the shopper and their family a wonderful meal free of charge!
