The Physical Education Department successfully hosted our annual Field Day event on Thursday, which featured a day filled with laughter, excitement, and engaging physical activities. Participants enjoyed various events, including the 50-meter dash, 3-legged race, and 500-meter race. Kudos to Coach Detrick Smith for his outstanding efforts in making this event a success.

Join us for the OCSD Spring Community & Parent Engagement Summit on May 15 at the YMCA Orangeburg, located at 2550 St. Matthews Rd., Orangeburg, SC 29118. Registration will begin at 5:00 PM, and the event will take place from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM.

Families can enjoy an exciting Battle of the Bands featuring the Mean Green Marching Machine of Lake Marion High School and The Orange Pride Marching Band of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. Guests will also enjoy free food, sweet treats, giveaways including book bags and school supplies, mini lessons from district staff and teachers, parenting sessions, summer slide prevention information, and community vendors. Families will also have the opportunity to learn more about Title I and other federal programs that support our students. We look forward to seeing you there!

Congratulations to Kyrin, Micah, and Alaiya for all placing in the category of Very High Distinction or High Distinction in the SC Regional Science Fair. Also, congratulations to these students for being honored last evening at our May District Board meeting; again, congratulations Kyrin, Micah, and Alaiya.

On Wednesday, we hosted a very engaging and informative family night that focused on STEM and literacy. Families enjoyed planting flowers, writing family messages on our chalk walk, making balloon rockets, playing bingo, and enjoying delicious chicken or fish tender baskets.
