A special thanks goes out to Grimes County Master Gardeners volunteer Mrs. Kimberly Hertan for helping us capture some great photos of the flowers and bluebonnets in front of our office.

The 2026 Dr. O.D. Butler Field Day will be held on Friday, May 15th, 8:30am - 3pm at: Thomas Ranch- 10365 Summer Lane, Anderson, TX 77830

Registration will open at 7:30AM and the program will begin at 8:30AM. You will have time to visit the ag industry booths and view farm equipment displayed on site throughout the day.

The following programs that will be featured at the event:

LIVE CATTLE DEMONSTRATION FOCUSED ON PREVENTION OF THE NEW WORLD SCREWWORM

MEALYBUG & OTHER FORAGE PEST MANAGEMENT

2ND YEAR COATED FERTILIZER TRIAL RESULTS

DROUGHT INSURANCE & RISK MANAGEMENT

Lunch will be provided at noon and as well as more time to visit the vendor booths. Three CEU's (1 L&R, 2 Gen) will be awarded to eligible participants.

Pre-registration with payment is required. The cost of registration online is $35 plus fees.

Yesterday’s session of the “Roots to Results” South Central Texas Landowner Program covered apiary production, the role of pollinators, and tree management.

Our local chapters of Texas Master Naturalist Program and Native Prairies Association of Texas also provided informational booths for participants.

A special thanks to Capital Farm Credit for providing information on the financial education resources available to new and beginning agricultural producers.

36 producers came together for the February session of the South Central Texas Ag. Conference.

These producers earned 5 Continuing Education Units while learning about forage pest control, agriculture drone use, and pond management.

A special thanks goes to the Waller County Extension Office for their leadership on this program. Also, a special thanks to Waller County Master Gardeners for volunteering their time and providing the delicious desserts.

We are excited to announce that this spring we have a variety of educational programs in Grimes and surrounding counties. Please see the list of upcoming opportunities.

March- South Central Texas Landowner Series

Our fourth session of the series will take place Friday, March 20 at Washington County Expo, Event Center- 1305 East Blue Bell Rd., Brenham, TX 77833

Registration will begin at 1:00 pm and the program will last from 1:30 pm- 5:00 pm.

The topic of this fourth session is "Apiary Production/Importance of Pollinators/ Tree Management”.

Any payments that need to be completed can be accepted at the door. We can accept exact cash or checks made to "Lee LAB." Please see attachment for further details on pricing.

April- Private Applicator Training

Anyone wanting to become a licensed private applicator with the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) may attend this training.

Study materials can be purchased prior to the training or the day of the training from the Madison County Extension Office for $60.00.
