We had a great group for Coffee w/ the Chamber at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Navasota, TX this morning! We heard about St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Navasota, TX's Blessing of the Animals; the Grimes County VFW Post #4006's 1st Responder's Breakfast this Saturday at 7 a.m. and the IBCA State Championship Cookoff they will host on January 15th & 16th; The City of Navasota plugged its Navasota Farmers Market this Saturday, the Blues Festival in October that will begin with a Fun Run and Car Show in the morning, a Kid's Zone in the afternoon and music that starts at 4 p.m., as well as Home for the Holidays, A Navasota Christmas 🎄🎅🌟 event, and the City of Navasota Parks & Recreation Events; Navasota Chief of Police, Mike Mize plugged National Night Out 2026, Treats on the Streets 🎃🍭🖤, and asked citizens who own businesses in town to make sure NPD has up to date contact information in case of after-hours emergencies at their businesses; Grimes County Commissioner Precinct 4 Candidate Greg Mock, reminded everyone to get out and vote on November 3rd, or during early voting which begins on October 19th; Dixie Dames is hosting a Paint N' Sip event at their store on September 20th at 1 p.m. They have room for 12 people to join and it's $35 per person; Anderson-Shiro Education Foundation's Annual Fundraiser is coming up on October 24th in Anderson, they are still looking for sponsors and other support for the event; Grimes County Retired School Personnel promoted their organization for new members who qualify to join; Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley have their 15th Annual 'Red, White & You' hiring event coming up on November 5th that is focused on Veterans, but up to the general public; Ashley Ver Schuur will host Karaoke at Toasted Tomato in Anderson this Friday and the annual Will-a-Thon that will take place in January (Date/Time/Location TBD); City Councilman Bert Miller promoted the Patriot Day Sing-a-Long, hosted by the The Music Study Club of Navasota at the City of Navasota Municipal Building this Friday at 10 a.m., the Flag Pole Dedication at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Navasota Elks Lodge #2888, the Fantastic Fall Sip n' Shop in Historic Downtown Navasota on October 3rd, and the American Red Cross Blood Drive at the Navasota First United Methodist Church on October 20th; Smoke Daddies will celebrate the 1st Anniversary of opening its doors in Downtown Navasota all day Saturday, September 12th with live music, liquor tastings and much more; Prosperity Bank will have lunch for home owners at the bank in October to help answer questions for purchasing homes, etc.; Navasota Garden Club will hold its annual Treasures & Plant Sale on September 25 & 26 in Downtown Navasota. Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell, along with Cullen Eppright of First Financial Bank and Geneva Maynard of Prosperity Bank spoke about the rise in fraud and scams and that everyone should be aware of.
