Our parks guys have been busy getting some down town planters spruced up for the season. Seasonal annuals have been going in and more plantings, landscaping, and general beautification will continue in the down town corridor.

Last week some of our guys visited Andrew Ave. Elementary School to take part in Read Across America and had the opportunity to read with students.
It was a great experience for everyone involved. Seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces and being able to connect outside of our normal day-to-day work was truly rewarding.
Moments like this highlight how important being part of the community is—not just maintaining our town, but building relationships within it. We’re proud to support events like this and look forward to more opportunities to spend time with our community!

Hello Naugy. We are on the brink of what could be one of the worst storms we've seen in a while, not only with snow totals, but how fast it will accumulate and the strong winds. Please stay off the roads while our guys are out fighting the blizzard! This one will take some time to fully cleanup if we get the totals that are being forecasted. Allow us that time, please follow parking bans, and refrain yourself from throwing snow back into the road but instead, keep it in the yard! Thank you, and stay safe.

Groundhog day?! Not yet, but back to back storms have our guys busy. From the hills to downtown the salt is working nicely. Snow will pick back up with the bulk of the accumulation expected, this afternoon/evening and roads will become slick again. Please take it easy, dont get caught off guard, and let us get the roads cleared. Thank you, and stay safe!

Snowplowing and treating for ice, we take these things seriously and understand what it means to have some of the best kept roads not just after, but during the storm too. Sometimes the heavy snow makes it difficult, as was the issue with the first few hours with this past storm, but our mission is to stay on our routes and clear the roads until we are down to wet asphalt! We hear the complaints and criticism and strive to be the best. These couple of comments are also always rewarding to hear. Please remember to always be patient, give us some room, and we will give you the best possible road conditions. On to the next, Happy Holidays!

Today, we pause to honor and thank all the brave men and women who have served our country. Your courage, sacrifice, and dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.

Asphalt is flowing with the Street Department's new paving box. Our guys got this parking lot looking real good at the newer municipal lot at 30 Church Street which is slated to be complete around thanksgiving. This box will allow for a small paving crew to work on town owned properties, lots, and even shorter road sections. More work being taken care of in-house.

Congratulations! Dan Hennessey, Foreman of the Naugatuck Parks Department has officially retired after 40 years with the town. He started his career at Hop Brook Golf Course then made his way to the parks department where he served as Park Maintainer, the Park Foreman. Congrats again to Dan!
