** SEVERE WEATHER RISK UPGRADE, NUMEROUS SEVERE WEATHER EXPECTED THROUGH THE EVENING **
Due to the intensification of a squall line with embedded supercells and additional tornado-producing supercells, I am upgrading the severe weather risk this evening. Please take all alerts very seriously as we see these lines of storms and cells move through the region. Given the high amounts of wind shear, it does not take a lot to produce brief, spin-up tornadoes.
(ZONE 3, PINK): Numerous strong to severe thunderstorms are expected. The strongest storms may pack wind gusts of 60 - 65 mph with hail up to penny-sized. Several spin-up tornadoes expected, likely on the EF0 - EF1 intensity. Non-severe impacts may include torrential downpours and lightning.
(ZONE 2, RED): Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are expected. The strongest storms may pack wind gusts of 60 - 65 mph with hail up to penny-sized. Brief tornadoes may be expected within the line of storms and ahead of the line of storms of EF0 - EF1 intensity. Non-severe impacts may include torrential downpours and lightning.
(ZONE 1, YELLOW): Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are expected. The strongest storms may pack wind gusts of 45 - 55 mph. A brief tornado is possible in the strongest, rotating storm. This tornado risk can occur overnight, but the threat is very low. Non-severe impacts may include torrential downpours and lightning.
(NOTE: Once the squall moves through western/central PA, your severe threat is over. Watch cells ahead of the line and watch for the actual line. Eastern PA, your risk will occur especially after 10 PM and through/after midnight.
