State Rep. Mandy Steele and the PA State Police are hosting a Community Dialogue on Rights and Law Enforcement tonight, August 20, at 6:00 PM at the Highlands School District High School Auditorium until 7:30. The program will include a video presentation and give a chance for attendees to ask questions regarding police perspective, training and more. If you have a new driver in your household and would like to have an opportunity to discuss what to do when encountering the police, please consider attending the session tonight.

I’ve come to know and respect many police officers over the years. A few have become trusted advisors, friends.
The police that I have the most respect for understand that public safety is a shared job built upon trust.
TRUST is the key.
Building that relationship is something they work on every day.
PA State Police Trooper Joe Dunsmore is someone I have a lot of respect for. In his role as ambassador for the State Police, he travels all over Pennsylvania meeting with people to answer their questions, share information about police policies and training, share stories, and most importantly, listen to people. He is building the trust that comes with open communication and informed citizens.
I asked him to come to the top of the District and hold a session for community members. I highly recommend you attend. The information he shares is eye-opening and important. It is good to be as informed as possible as to the role of law-enforcement in your community, especially should you ever find yourself in a situation where you are interacting with police.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of AKV Back the Blue volunteer Lisa Ingle. We offer our condolences to Lisa’s family and to the AKV Back the Blue organization. We thank her for her hard work to keep officers safe in the Alle-Kiski Valley.

In 2024, AKV Back the Blue adopted Harrison Township Police Department as one of their beneficiary Police Departments in the Alle-Kiski Valley. The funding received from the AKV Back The Blue organization is utilized to purchase department equipment, obtain equipment for specialized training positions within the department, and used to bolster our funding for community service initiatives.

The funding that has been provided to our Department would not be available without the hard work, commitment, and involvement of the members of their organization.

UPDATE: The dog has been returned home

This Beagle was brought to the police station by a passer-by who found him running through mill traffic on River Avenue between Linden Street and Sycamore Street in Natrona. There are no collar or tags. If you know who she belongs to have them call the station 724-224-3355.
