Hazardous ⚠️ Weather Possibility.

Advising of the potential for strong to severe storms later this afternoon into the evening and overnight hours. As noted in the below text and graphics from the National Weather Service, Mt. Holly , Heavy Rainfall could lead to flash flooding, particularly in low lying areas, and strong wind gusts could result in down trees/branches and subsequent power outages. National Park OEM will be monitoring this weather system throughout.

This Afternoon
A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tonight
Showers and thunderstorms before 2am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 2am and 4am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4am. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. Low around 68. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday
A chance of showers before 2pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2pm and 3pm, then a chance of showers after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. North wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half inch.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Delaware
Eastern Maryland
New Jersey
Southern New York
Central and Eastern Pennsylvania
Coastal Waters

* Effective this Sunday night and Monday morning from 705 PM
until 100 AM EDT.

* Primary threats include...
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely
Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible
A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...A broken line of thunderstorms will spread eastward this
evening and pose a threat for mainly scattered severe/damaging
winds, with peak gusts up to 60-70 mph possible. A brief
line-embedded tornado or two and occasional hail may also occur.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60
statute miles east and west of a line from 50 miles northwest of
Monticello NY to 35 miles south southwest of Dover DE. For a

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

A stretch of hot and increasingly humid weather is expected across the region beginning Wednesday and continuing through Friday. In addition to the heat, there will be daily chances for severe thunderstorms. While isolated severe storms are possible Wednesday and Thursday. Friday currently has the potential for a more widespread severe weather event.

Expect increasing heat and humidity through the end of the week, with heat index values approaching 100°F Thursday and Friday. Daily chances for severe thunderstorms exist Wednesday through Friday, with the greatest concern for widespread severe weather currently on Friday. Residents and agencies should prepare for both heat-related impacts and the possibility of damaging winds and power outages. Don’t forget to check on elderly family, friends, and neighbors during these types of weather events.

Attention residents in area of Army Corps of engineers property ( the dredge ). On April 27 or thereafter , the Corps will be transporting an Excavator and Bulldozer via low boy trailer , utilizing the Princeton Avenue entrance to do so.
