Our colleagues at KMS are thrilled about the new school & were even willing to pitch in on construction today. Luckily, our construction crew has everything under control!

Vote YES for Kennedy on Question #1! Kennedy Middle School is good for students and smart for taxpayers. The building was built for a different era in education and has reached the end of its useful life. Now, the state will pay 34% of the cost for a new building - one that meets the needs of students, teachers, and the community.

Contact [email protected] if you need a ride to the polls or more information.

Remember to Vote Yes on Question 1 for the Kennedy Middle School on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. Bring a friend to vote, have your kids join you--the more engagement, the better!

Why a New Kennedy Middle School Now?

Because Natick is fiscally prudent and responsible. We waited three years to be accepted into the state's MSBA grant program. Now, the state will give us $37 million toward a new Kennedy.

That's 34% of the cost! But we only get this if we say YES to QUESTION #1 on March 27th.

Why can't we wait?

We will lose our guaranteed state funding -- Natick will shoulder the entire cost of repairing the building (and it must be repaired!)

We are out of space . Our middle schools are overcrowded. And if we just repair the old building, 900 students will be displaced short-term and modulars will be needed long-term at both schools.

Construction costs are rising rapidly -- They are going up 4-5% each year (that's approximately $5 million per year.)

A dilapidated school building and a town with not enough space for middle schoolers will likely impact property values.

What is the cost?

This new Kennedy Middle School will cost the average* Natick homeowner just over $1 per day. This cost GOES DOWN over time and is eliminated when the debt is paid in 20 years. The cost to repair the building is only slightly less than a new building, but repairing just doesn't solve our problems.

The cost of "no" is just too much. Vote YES on Question #1 on March 27th!

Read the letter: Why new Kennedy Middle School is needed

March 23, 2018

I am a fifth-grader at Kennedy Middle School. From going to Kennedy I believe that there is a big need for a new building. It is so old that the building used to be a bomb shelter. I see signs on walls when I am walking in the halls, that say things like “Fallout shelter” with an arrow. Kennedy is a great school and from being a student there

I know. Everyone makes the school welcoming and nice but not everything about it is pleasant. For example, many of the classrooms are very small. Our fifth-grade classrooms are modulars which you need to go outside to access. We have to walk outside at least eight times a day, rain or snow, without a jacket. Also in the nor’easter back in the beginning of March many of my books and other students’ books got wet. Also our lockers are in a cafeteria outside the modulars, which can make it hard to get from class to class on time. To add to this there are no water fountains or bathrooms in the modulars, which can also be annoying. Though this one letter cannot make you vote YES, I really hope it will. It’s the twenty first century and we need to do something NOW. So

Please, for our town’s education, for your friends, children and family, please vote YES on March 27.
