Narcan is a safe and effective way to reverse an opioid overdose. If you would like to be trained in how to recognize and respond to an overdose, sign up for the FREE Narcan training led by Natick 180 on the evening of Thurs. Sept 3rd from 6:30-7:30 at the Morse Institute Library Natick.

This is a FREE 1-hour training that teaches others how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose. Each participant will receive a free overdose prevention kit containing two intranasal doses of naloxone (brand name Narcan).

This training is made possible thanks to the Natick Health Department Morse Institute Library Natick and Natick 180.

Racoon Found at Coolidge Field in Natick, MA

On Thursday, August 20th 2026, individuals may have come into contact with a raccoon found at Coolidge Field in Natick, MA. In the evening, a group of children were reported to have been interacting with the raccoon, which later escaped into nearby woods.

If you, your child, or someone you know had direct contact with a raccoon in or around Coolidge Field in Natick on 8/20/2026, please contact the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) at 617-983-6800 (available 24 hours) or your health care provider for a risk assessment. Following a direct exposure to a raccoon, rabies disease can be prevented with prompt administration of rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). People who were in the area but did NOT touch the animal are not at any risk.

If you have a pet that had direct contact with the raccoon, please contact the Natick Animal Control Officer 508-647-9510 x 2516 or speak to your veterinarian.

On August 13, 2026 the Commissioner of the Department of Public Health has issued an emergency order that designates kratom as a Schedule I Controlled Substance under Massachusetts law, and gives municipalities, including local boards of health and other municipal officials, the authority to remove all kratom products from retail establishments. This order takes effect on August 28th, 2026 after a 14-day notice period and remains in effect for up to a year. 🦟 West Nile Virus (WNV)-positive mosquitoes have been identified in communities across Massachusetts including surrounding towns. At this time Natick is at a moderate risk for WNV.

What you can do to prevent WNV infection:
1. Be prepared: repair screens, clean up to get rid of mosquito breeding sites, be aware of stagnant water on private property (e.g. unused swimming pools, old tires, buckets) and consult the local board of health.
2. Wear long sleeves and long pants from dusk to dawn when weather permits
3. Use mosquito netting on baby carriages and playpens
4. Wear mosquito repellent when outdoors, especially between dusk and dawn
5. Dump standing water twice weekly

The air is currently unhealthy for sensitive groups, including children and older adults, and people with heart or lung disease such as asthma. People in sensitive groups should limit prolonged outdoor activity.
