Nassau County is currently facing a serious blood shortage.

Maintaining a safe blood supply is vital for hospitals, emergency responders, surgeries, cancer treatments, and patients facing medical emergencies every single day.

Blood donations truly save lives, and I encourage all eligible residents to consider donating through the New York Blood Center.

Please visit the NYBC website to find a donation center near you and help keep Nassau County strong, prepared, and protected.

Today, we honor and remember all of the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our Country and the freedoms we enjoy every day.

It was an absolute honor to attend the Village of Cedarhurst Memorial Day Ceremony alongside veterans, families, and members of the community. The singing of β€œGod Bless the USA” was a truly moving moment and a powerful reminder of the sacrifice, patriotism, and unity that Memorial Day represents.

National recognition weeks give us an important opportunity to recognize and thank the dedicated individuals who make a difference in our communities each and every day. This week, National EMS Week, is one that means a great deal to me personally.

Day in and day out, EMS professionals provide lifesaving care and support during some of the most critical moments people will ever face. Their dedication, professionalism, and compassion are exactly why I have always made it a priority to support our local EMS workers and ensure they have the resources, equipment, and appreciation they deserve.

I want to take a moment to thank all of our EMS personnel for everything they do for Nassau County and our local communities.

🚨 LIRR SERVICE UPDATE 🚨

Due to the ongoing labor strike, LIRR service has been suspended. Nassau County commuters are encouraged to plan ahead and allow for additional travel time during weekday rush hours.

Limited shuttle bus service is available during peak commuting periods only:

🚌 4:30 AM – 9:00 AM
🚌 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM

⚠️ No weekend shuttle service
⚠️ Reverse-peak options remain extremely limited

Residents should consider remote work, carpooling, NICE Bus service, ferries, subway connections, or other alternate transportation options where possible.

Join the Nassau County Department of Human Services Office of Mental Health, Chemical Dependency & Developmental Disabilities Services, in partnership with Long Island University, for the Nassau County 2026 Inaugural Behavioral Health Symposium: Facing Crisis, Bridging Courts and Care Through Integrated Behavioral Health Solutions.

This conference brings together leaders in behavioral health, courts, and community systems for an in-depth discussion on mental health and addiction awareness, education, and coordinated care. Across New York State, there is growing momentum to strengthen collaboration between the justice system and behavioral health providers, recognizing that many justice-involved individuals benefit from clinically informed, integrated responses to mental health and substance use needs.

Together, counties and partners are advancing approaches that improve outcomes through cross-system coordination and care-focused solutions.
