Friends, I would like to talk about the department and our community. As Chief, it is important that we stay engaged with our community. First, I sincerely thank the community for the great support we saw at our bbq fundraiser. I believe its the second best fundraiser we've had. This will give us the ability to continue the improvements with the department, like making responders safer. It will also go towards making our station better to serve the community, especially during disasters, and mass power outages. Keeping our community engaged is the best interest for all of us. As a department, we are strong, with last count 21 volunteers, and three are inactive temporarily for various reasons. We just lost two who moved to other areas. Last year, we were called for runs amounting to 236 runs, and we did'nt miss a single run. In fact, at least the last two years we made all runs. We pride ourselves on the belief that if you call we will come. Now, with that said, we are an aging group, and a few of us are reaching the age where we must slow down. New volunteers are being increasingly important. Currently, most of our responders have been here 5 years or more. I myself am approaching my "best if used by" shelf life date. LOL. Volunteers do this primarily out of love for our community. The community has been there for us, so we can be there for you. Thanks for your support.
