TDEC Division of Water Resources Everyone lives in a watershed and plays a role in protecting our water. Together we can help keep Tennessee’s water resources healthy!

TDEC manages, protects, and enhances Tennessee’s water resources through voluntary, regulatory, and educational programs. We hope that this FB page will help keep citizens informed about activities going on throughout the watersheds in the state. It is also our hope that through this page we might connect groups and activities together and even recognize areas where more activity is needed.

Chemicals and other pollutants entering storm drains are considered illicit discharges and can quickly contaminate nearby waterways.

If you notice something doesn’t look right, report it to your local municipality.

SAVE THE DATE: TENNESSEE RIVER RESCUE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3RD!

This monumental event is not just a cleanup, it’s a cherished tradition in the fight against litter polluting our waterways.

Last year alone, over 1,500 dedicated individuals helped remove more than 58,000 pounds of litter from the river and its tributaries. This collective action, spanning 65 cleanup projects across Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama, demonstrates the profound impact volunteers and regional collaboration can have towards tackling pollution.

This was the second regional forum being hosted this year to introduce our dedicated staff and the vital work they do for Tennessee. Forum attendees get to meet our staff, make connections, gain valuable insights, and develop a deeper understanding of our Division’s mission. We are hosting one more this year in Murfreesboro - hope to see you there!
