Circuit Court Clerk of Metro Nashville-Davidson County

Circuit Court Clerk of Metro Nashville-Davidson County Service * Integrity * Experience * Innovation

In Davidson County, the Circuit Court Clerk is charged with the responsibility of maintaining not only the records of the eight Circuit Courts but also the civil records of the eleven General Sessions Courts. Among the types of cases heard by the Circuit Courts are contract disputes, civil torts, condemnations, worker’s compensation claims, domestic matters and the administration of estates. The jurisdiction of the General Sessions Courts includes limited-jurisdiction torts and contracts, landlord-tenant disputes and matters involving the violation of a Metropolitan government ordinance, including traffic and codes violations. This diversity of clerical responsibilities has resulted in the operation of four distinct offices - the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, the Probate Court Clerk’s Office, the General Sessions-Civil Division Clerk’s Office and the Traffic Violation Bureau/Traffic Warrant Division, all under the purview of the Clerk.

25 years later, the memories remain. The loss is still felt. The courage is still honored. 🇺🇸

Today, Clerk Joseph P. Day joined Nashville leaders, Metro Police, and the Nashville Fire Department in remembrance—walking Broadway in the 25th Anniversary 9/11 Processional and gathering outside the Schermerhorn to honor those whose lives were lost.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
