With Peace Officers Memorial Day on Friday May 15th, 2026 and Police Week May 10th through May 16th we honor our brave officers who serve on the front lines. These courageous officers protect our families, safeguard our communities and always answer the calls for service.

This week we honor the brave men and women serving in law enforcement and memorialize those who sacrificed their lives serving others. For the families waiting for their loved ones to return home, you’re the strong foundation for the officers fighting the good fight, thank you for sharing these brave men and women throughout out the communities they serve.

Keep standing tall and know your service doesn’t go unnoticed.

Thank you for all you do!!

Love to See It! Gun Locks Gone… and Refilled Again 👏

We LOVE seeing this! 🙌

Our free gun lock box in the lobby was recently emptied — which means members of our community are taking steps toward safe firearm storage. That’s something worth celebrating! 👏

Good news… it’s been fully refilled and ready to go again.

If you or someone you know could use a free gun lock, stop by our lobby anytime and grab one — no questions asked.

A small step can make a big difference in keeping our families and community safe. 💙

Protect & Serve… Now Featuring Water Patrol? 🚔🌧️

🌧️🚔 When Deputy Francois said he was patrolling the state lake, we figured he meant driving around it… not launching Unit 3 into full aquatic enforcement mode.

Somewhere between “shoreline patrol” and “send it,” things escalated. 😅

Crappie, catfish, and questionable boating behavior are now officially on notice.

Alright—we’ll come clean… April Fools! 😂

No aquatic units in the fleet, but our deputies are out patrolling in this weather and working hard to keep everyone safe.

And a quick reminder:
🚫Don’t drive through flooded roadways
➡️ Turn around, don’t drown

Slow down, watch for standing water, and stay safe out there, Washington County! 💙

🍀 Happy St. Patrick’s Day from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office! 🍀

Our K9 unit is feeling extra lucky today! 🐾💚 Whether you're celebrating with friends, family, or your four-legged partners, we hope your day is filled with fun, safety, and a little bit of Irish luck.

Remember—celebrate responsibly and don’t rely on luck when it comes to getting home safely. Plan ahead and make good choices.

Stay safe, Washington County! 🚔🍀

I-64 TRAFFIC STOP BY DEPUTY J. BLACK LEADS TO ARREST

On Friday, March 13, 2026, at approximately 9:24 PM, Deputy Black was dispatched to Interstate 64 eastbound near mile marker 60 in Richview, Illinois, in response to a report of a reckless driver.

Vernon, Illinois, was subsequently taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence of Drugs or a Combination of Drugs.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a firearm, approximately 87.2 grams of suspected cannabis, a loaded firearm, and a bottle containing a liquid suspected to be a controlled substance weighing approximately 486 grams.

Blackmon was transported to the Washington County Jail, where he was processed and later released with the following Notice to Appear citations:
