This afternoon Junior Members took time to go around town and paint hydrants. Needless to say it made a huge difference!

Painting hydrants serves many purposes. With a fresh coat of paint it makes them more visible and easier to be spotted if they are needed to be used. Having freshly painted fire hydrants makes the town look much better.

Over the course of summer Junior Members will be out painting hydrants in different areas within the town, we ask that you please use caution if you see us.

The NFD juniors worked very hard prepping and preparing fire helmets donated to us by Salem Fire Department so they can be painted blue to meet the county standards for identification of junior firefighters on incident scenes. After accepting a few new junior members during this project, junior members worked even harder to complete this accomplishment. We are proud to announce that, as of today all eleven junior helmets(some not pictured) have been completed and have been placed in service for use.

The NFD junior members would like to give a special thanks to Salem Fire Department for the generous donation of bunker gear and fire helmets!

The NFD Juniors would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Easter!!

Drill night:

This evening junior members came together and took the opportunity to conduct hydrant operations drills. This drill consisted of a junior member pulling the 5” hose off of the rear of an apparatus along with the proper hand tools to make a connection to a hydrant. This drill is to ensure the comfortability of junior members making connections to hydrants and getting water to the engineer when riding on the trucks during an emergency incident.
