Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency

Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency The mission of MDHA is to create quality affordable housing opportunities, support neighborhoods, strengthen communities and help build a greater Nashville.

MDHA is the development and housing agency for Nashville-Davidson County. We own and operate 21 community housing properties in Nashville, and administer the Housing Choice Voucher Program. In addition, we've helped build some of Nashville's most recognizable landmarks - the AT&T Building, LP Field, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Nashville Public Library, and the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

Empowering the next generation! 💪✨

Recently, teens from the LYDIA Society and Abraham’s Window, two MDHA youth programs, attended the “Taking Back Our Future Leaders” workshop. Thanks to the Nashville Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., which sponsored the event, these future leaders gained new tools to build confidence and achieve academic success.

LYDIA Society and Abraham’s Window are dedicated to helping teens in MDHA communities grow through education, personal responsibility and service. We’re so proud of their hard work and commitment to the program.

A special event for special young ladies! MDHA recently held the eighth annual LYDIA Society Trumpet Ball, where 16 young women were honored. The evening ended with the crowning of Miss LYDIA Society 2026, Ja’Liyah, marking an unforgettable milestone for all involved.

Before the event, the girls, many of whom call MDHA home, learned about topics such as writing, technology and health.

Thank you, Meharry Medical College School of Public Health, Vaccine for All; Nurses Middle College Nashville; the Office of the Nashville Metropolitan Trustee and the Resident Associations at MDHA properties for your support.

It may have been raining today, but that didn’t stop residents from attending the Community Unity Day at the VOICE Center. They enjoyed good food, prizes, games and the opportunity to connect with multiple community resources.

Thank you to our partners who helped make today a success!

The red carpet was rolled out at Gernert Studio Apartments this week!

Residents came dressed to impress as they attended a luncheon hosted by MDHA's Resident Services Department. The event, called "Queen for a Day: Reclaiming Your Crown,” taught the women about living a healthy lifestyle and celebrating personal growth.
