The VFW is one of the oldest and strongest advocates for American veteran's rights and benefits. Veterans, your membership is needed to help protect your rights and benefits; strength in numbers. VFW membership has benefits, visit the National VFW website (VFW.org) for more detailed information. Berrien County VFW Post 5978 is one of the most active units in the state. Member meetings are held on

the third (3rd) Thursday of each month at 7 pm. On Saturday nights, the post dance hall has a live band featuring live bands and a DJ. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the public is welcome.

82 Years Ago Today – D-Day

On June 6, 1944, more than 156,000 Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy in one of the most courageous military operations in history. Facing overwhelming obstacles, these brave men fought their way ashore and began the liberation of Europe from N**i tyranny.

Many never made it off the beaches. Many more carried the scars of that day for the rest of their lives. Their sacrifice helped secure the freedoms we enjoy today.

As we mark the anniversary of D-Day, let us pause to remember the courage, determination, and selfless service of the Greatest Generation. Their legacy reminds us that freedom is never free and that ordinary people are capable of extraordinary acts when duty calls.

Please join Berrien County VFW Post 5978 in honoring the heroes of D-Day and all who served during World War II.
