October 31st, 2009 Lauren and Cody had their first date at a Halloween party hosted by Lauren. Since then Lauren and Cody have shared an intense love of all things Halloween. Their love for Halloween is so strong, that in late October, 2018 Lauren and Cody got married after being together for 9 years. Every Halloween is a special event that starts sometime as early as August and lasts sometimes until Thanksgiving. The real story here is about love. It’s about the love shared between Lauren and Cody, and their love for Halloween. This bond continues to grow every year, and this brings us to the first every Manor of Madness in 2015.
Lauren and Cody have always loved Haunted houses and Trick’ or Treating. This can sometimes lead to situations where they will go to 10 haunts in a season and travel all over the southeast just to check out new haunts. This love for the decorations, acting, scary masks, make-up, and special effects have caused Lauren and Cody to want to eventually open a year-round haunted attraction. When they first started doing the Manor of Madness in 2015, they hand-made some headstones, and 3 dummies. This was originally going to be something small, but it turned into what is now possibly the largest yard haunt in the middle Tennessee area. Lauren and Cody love to construct large facades such as building an entire 12 foot tall “Ghost Town” in 2017 with fully functional buildings. As Cody is also a live sound and lighting engineer, they have a large supply of professional lighting, and audio equipment to enhance the effects of the Manor of Madness. Lauren is the detail master of the two. Lauren paints most of the walls, the signs, and does almost everyone’s make-up. She is an amazing artist when it comes to anything with a paintbrush. Also, with Lauren and Cody’s ability to work as one of the best two-person teams this side of the Mississippi has allowed them to create what is now, and will continue to be an amazing Halloween attraction while helping those in need.
When Lauren and Cody created the Manor of Madness, they wanted to do something to give back to the community. Their first goal was to make children and adults have a positive Trick’ or Treat experience. Lauren and Cody remember being younger and seeing houses that “went all out” for Halloween and how happy that made them. They also wanted to do something to help out those in need so they collect donations for Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee and Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue. As much as Lauren and Cody love to scare and entertain people, they also love to help others. Collectively with the community, Lauren and Cody have collected thousands of dollars worth of non-perishable food items to help those in need, and have collected a lot of items to help animals in need as well.
The Manor of Madness is really a love note between Lauren and Cody. It is a common bond shared between two people who love each other very much. It is about giving back to the community, and about a passion for Halloween. It is this that allows them to continue doing what they do. Come share our love for all things Halloween and we hope to see you at the Manor of Madness on Halloween night!
