Built in 1808 by James Buchanan (1773-1841), you will find here a family's history, architectural history, and archaeological history. James Buchanan built this log house circa 1807-1809. He and his wife Lucinda would raise 16 children here, expanding the house in 1820. The property was placed on the Register of Historic Places in 1984 and includes several historic log structures, including the 18
47 home of Addison Buchanan, son of James and Lucinda. The Buchanan Log House Chapter, APTA, is dedicated to the preservation of this historic property and telling the story of life for middle class families in the early days of Tennessee. Our funds come from individual and corporate memberships, grants, donations, annual fundraising events, and event rentals. The property grounds have been updated with expanded areas for outdoor events.
