-Media Release-

April 2026 Arrests

Kevin R. Tomas-Gembe, 20 of Carbondale, was cited for misdemeanor speeding (60 in a 30), Operating Uninsured Vehicle, and Operating a Vehicle with Suspended Registration.

Cherles Guardian, 25 of Carlyle, was cited for Driving while License Suspended.

A juvenile out of Centralia was charged with Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Possession of Stolen Vehicle, Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Burglary Tools, Unlawful Possession of Debit Cards, Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Armed Violence.

A juvenile out of Centralia was charged with Possession of Stolen Vehicle.

A juvenile out of Centralia was charged with Possession of Stolen Vehicle.

Marshay A. Watford, 18 of Centralia, was charged with Possession of Stolen Vehicle.

Dori M. Kirksey, 46 of Murphysboro, was arrested on a Clinton County warrant.

Tony D. Thomas Jr, 20 of Collinsville, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant.

Lashunda R. Rigsby, 37 of St. Louis, MO, was cited for Driving While License Suspended and Operating Uninsured Vehicle.

Phillip A. Roberts, 48 of Carlyle, was cited for Driving While License Revoked.

Jeffery D. King, 56 of Waterloo, was cited for Operating a Vehicle With Suspended Registration, No Valid Driver’s License (expired more than one year), and Operating Uninsured Vehicle.

***Attention Nashville Residents***

Our office is investigating numerous car burglaries and a theft of motor vehicle that occurred early this morning on the west end of town.

The stolen vehicle has been recovered in the St. Louis area but suspects are still at large. The incidents are still being investigated by NPD and assisting agencies including the Metro East Auto Theft Task Force.

This is a reminder for the community to lock your vehicles and remove valuables from them.

-Media Release-

TWO CHARGED AFTER PURSUIT OF STOLEN VEHICLE

On Friday, April 10, 2026 at approximately 11:33 p.m. NPD was advised of a vehicle that had just been stolen out of Centralia that was last known to be southbound on US Highway 51 in Washington County.

Anticipating this vehicle may come westbound on Interstate 64, NPD had numerous officers stage in the area of I-64 near the Nashville exit.

A short time later, an NPD Lieutenant who was at the turnaround east of the Nashville exit observed the stolen vehicle. An NPD Officer was also staged at the turnaround west of the Nashville exit.

NPD then attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle which subsequently accelerated speeds and began fleeing.

The NPD Officer west of the Nashville exit was able to set up stop sticks before the vehicle passed him. The stolen vehicle struck the stop sticks with its driver side tire which slowly deflated.

NPD continued to pursue the stolen vehicle for several miles at speeds well over 100 miles per hour.

The stolen vehicle eventually came to a stop in the median just west of the Okawville exit where four subjects were detained.

A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded G***k handgun with an extended magazine, burglary tools, controlled substances, and additional items believed to be stolen.

All occupants of the stolen vehicle were discovered to be juveniles from the Centralia area.

Due to the complex circumstances, all suspects were transferred to the Centralia Police Department for further investigation and charges.

NPD charged the juvenile driver with:
-Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding
-Speeding (35 mph over)
-Improper Lane Usage
-Failure to Signal
-Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
-Possession of a Controlled Substance
-Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Firearm
-Unlawful Possession of Firearm Ammunition
-Unlawful Possession of Debit Cards
-Possession of Burglary Tools
-Armed Violence

A juvenile passenger was also charged with:
-Possession of a Stolen Vehicle

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

This incident is still being investigated by NPD and CPD.

NPD received assistance from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office during this pursuit.

No further information will be released at this time.

March 2026 Arrests

Jean-Alfred T. Grimes, 39 of St. Louis, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Stolen Registration, Unlawful Possession of Title or Registration Documents, and Unlawful Display of Registration Plates Not Authorized.

Montrell T. Jones, 18 of St. Louis, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Stolen Registration and Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

Jackie L. Stidhum, 37 of Herrin, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Stolen Registration Sticker, Unlawful Possession of Registration Sticker, and Unlawful Display of Registration Sticker.

Ryan M. Obermeier, 29 of Beckemeyer, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Driving, Obstructing a Peace Officer, and Resisting a Peace Officer.

Charles L. Musielak, 51 of Nashville, was arrested on a failure to appear warrant out of Washington County (possession of methamphetamine).

Alqaqaa A. Maazab, 29 of Marion, was arrested for Driving While License Suspended.

Melissa M. Knappier, 47 of Bonnie, was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance and Controlled Substance Trafficking as well as an arrest warrant out of Washington County.

Jacob I. Paxton, 31 of Opdyke, was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance and Controlled Substance Trafficking.

The City of Nashville would like to inform citizens about an increased enforcement of City Ordinance Violations this spring. The city is dedicated to ensuring community safety, maintaining property standards, and preserving public order. This initiative will specifically focus on regulations of property maintenance and parking.

Issues related to property maintenance, such as the accumulation of junk and debris, overgrown grass and vegetation, and the presence of inoperable, abandoned, disassembled, or dilapidated appliances, machinery, or vehicles, will not be tolerated. -Media Release-

Two Arrested for Controlled Substance Trafficking

On Monday, March 30, 2026 at approximately 6:11 p.m. NPD conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing a moving violation in the area of Interstate 64 eastbound near the Nashville Exit.

The driver was identified as Melissa M. Knappier, 47 of Bonnie, and the passenger was identified as Jacob I. Paxton, 31 of Opdyke.

It was discovered that Melissa had an active warrant for her arrest out of Washington County. Melissa was then taken into custody and NPD continued the traffic stop investigation.

During the investigation, Melissa admitted to concealing a bag of numerous fentanyl capsules on her person which was subsequently recovered and secured as evidence. Ater speaking with both individuals, it was determined that the contraband belonged to both Melissa and Jacob. Jacob was then placed under arrest.

Both individuals were transported to the Washington County Jail.

Melissa was served with her arrest warrant and charged with:
-Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance
-Controlled Substance Trafficking

Jacob was charged with:
-Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance
-Controlled Substance Trafficking

The following morning, both individuals were released from custody following their pretrial release hearings.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

No further information will be released at this time.

03/20/2026

-Media Release-

On Thursday, March 19, 2026 at approximately 6:22 p.m. NPD conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for having expired registration. The location of the stop was the McDonald's driveway off of St. Rt. 127.

Police identified the driver as Jackie L. Stidhum, 37 of Herrin. During the investigation, police observed the vehicle's registration sticker did not match the registration for the vehicle. Police were able to determine that the sticker belonged to another vehicle and individual from Okawville, Illinois.

A Washington County Sheriff's Deputy made contact with the owner of the sticker and determined it had been removed from their vehicle without their authorization.

As a result of the stop, police would place Jackie under arrest and transport her to the Washington County Jail.

At the jail, Jackie was charged with:
-Unlawful Possession of Stolen Registration Sticker
-Unlawful Possession of Registration Sticker
-Unlawful Display of Registration Sticker
-Operating Vehicle with Expired Registration
-Unlawful Possession of Adult Use Cannabis by Driver

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Two Arrested in Vehicle With Stolen Registration

On Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at approximately 5:18 p.m. NPD conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for having an obstructed license plate. The location of this stop was the 9000 block of St. Rt. 127.

Upon stopping the vehicle, officers learned that the vehicle was bearing expired dealership registration out of Missouri that was reported as stolen.

Both the driver and passenger were removed from the vehicle and detained. The driver was identified as Jean-Alfred T. Grimes, 39 of St. Louis, MO. And passenger was identified as Montrell T. Jones, 18 of St. Louis, MO.

A vehicle search was conducted that revealed Jones to be illegally in possession of a loaded handgun with an extended magazine. Other items of contraband were also located during the search.

Both Grimes and Jones were placed under arrest and taken to the Washington County Jail.

Grimes was charged with:
-Unlawful Possession of Stolen Registration Plates
-Unlawful Possession of Registration/Title Documents
-Unlawful Display of Registration
-Possession of Adult Use Cannabis by Driver
-Expired Registration
-Operating Uninsured Vehicle
-Improper Display of Registration

Jones was charged with:
-Aggravated Unlawful Possession of Firearm
-Unlawful Possession of Stolen Registration Plates

The following day, both individuals were released from custody following their pretrial release hearings.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
