It's a quick glance, but that is a coyote or Canis latrans. The coyote is a species of canine native to North America. It is smaller than its relative, the gray wolf, and slightly smaller than the closely related red wolf.
You can usually tell a dog running from a coyote by looking at the tail. Dogs usually run with their tails up, while coyotes run with their tails down. They are very good swimmers, will eat just about anything and have few natural predators. They can run about 40 miles per hour.
In the comments below, take a guess at what tomorrow's species. If you guess correctly, we will send you a little something in the mail. We will give you a hint: it will be a mammal or a bird.

🚨 Good news alert! 🚨 There’s new hope in the battle against white-nose syndrome, a fungal disease that’s killed over 6 million bats across North America. A research team from Oregon State University and UC Santa Cruz won our national prize challenge by conceiving of an aerosol spray to genetically silence the fungus that causes the disease without harming bats, the places they hibernate, or other living creatures: http://ow.ly/jkaT50CgMR2
Bats provide many benefits to people and wildlife, including pest control services when they eat insects that could otherwise spread disease or harm crops. By helping bats, we’re safeguarding a balanced natural world for current and future generations. 🦇
