Today we pause to remember September 11, 2001 — a day that forever changed our nation.

Each of us remembers where we were when the news broke, the shock we felt, and how the world seemed to fall silent as we watched events unfold. Nearly 3,000 lives were lost, families were torn apart, and a sense of safety we had long taken for granted was shattered.

But in the midst of tragedy, we also remember the bravery of first responders who ran toward danger, the strangers who helped one another without hesitation, and the unity that carried us forward in the days and weeks after. That spirit of resilience and compassion is what defines us as Americans.

Twenty-four years later, the memories remain vivid. The pain of loss remains, but so does our commitment to never forget. We honor the fallen, we stand with the families who still grieve, and we thank those who continue to serve and protect at home and abroad.

Let this day remind us of the strength we share when we stand together.

Donald Trump emerged victorious in the 2024 presidential election, defeating Kamala Harris. Trump secured both the popular vote and a majority in the Electoral College, reclaiming the presidency with a strong showing in key swing states. Kamala Harris conceded, delivering her speech just a few moments ago.

In Washington County, there was an impressive turnout, with over 79% of registered voters making their voices heard at the polls. This remarkable engagement underscores how important civic participation is, and it was heartening to see so many community members contribute to the democratic process.

The Republican Party achieved significant gains, regaining control of both the House and Senate. The GOP now holds a majority in the Senate, a critical shift that will shape the legislative agenda and future judicial confirmations. This victory represents a substantial step forward for the party, with Republicans well-positioned to pursue key priorities under the upcoming Trump administration.

🗳️ TOMORROW is Election Day! The Future of Our Country is at Stake 🗳️

Republicans of Washington County, this is your reminder: your vote is powerful, and showing up to the polls is crucial. In the Primaries, less than 30% of registered Republicans cast their votes. We need every Republican to turn out and make a statement about what we stand for.

Polling locations open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Make sure to plan your visit accordingly and bring friends, family, and neighbors who share our values.

On the ballot, you will see three advisory questions:

Question on Election Interference: Should measures be taken to protect elections from external influences?
3% Tax on Income Over $1 Million: Should a constitutional amendment be proposed to add a tax on annual income exceeding $1 million?
Insurance Coverage for Fertility Treatments: Should there be a mandate for insurance to cover fertility treatments?
These questions are non-binding but serve as an important gauge of public sentiment. Take time to review them and make informed decisions.

Washington County GOP Century Club Dinner Recap

We had a fantastic turnout at the Century Club Dinner on Sunday evening! The event was filled with insightful conversations and inspiring messages from our GOP candidates. We want to extend a huge thank you to The Original Springs in Okawville for the delicious food and for hosting the evening.

Terri Bryant addressed two key issues:

As the Minority Spokesman for Mental Health, she spoke about the importance of mental health initiatives in the district.
On the energy front, she emphasized that while Illinois relies heavily on coal, oil, and gas, there's potential for more solar and wind energy in the future. She also mentioned innovative projects like Voltech’s solar farming solutions, which allow solar panels to be installed 20 feet above specialty crops without taking farmland out of production.
David Freis spoke passionately about the Family Farm Preservation Act, stressing the need to fight against the increasing death tax, which threatens family-owned farms.

Dave Severin, the spokesman for Energy, Environment, Mental Health, and Addiction, shared updates on key initiatives, including retrofitting the Franklin County Correction Center to support mental health treatment.

Charlie Meyer, part of the House Leadership Team, warned that the Inheritance Tax Bill might be linked to the progressive income tax bill. He also shed light on discussions about locating facilities for illegal immigrants in Washington County, though it's still just rumors. He also highlighted concerns around the Murray Center and emphasized that funding should prioritize special needs individuals.

We were honored to have Wayne Rosenthal as our keynote speaker of the evening. His words left everyone motivated and focused on the path ahead.

Lastly, all GOP candidates from Washington County were recognized for their hard work and dedication. The night was a wonderful opportunity for networking between candidates and constituents.

Thank you again to everyone who attended and contributed to the engaging dinner and conversation. We look forward to continuing these important discussions as we move closer to the elections.
