Jeb Bush confirms appearance at NHGOP’s First-in-Nation Town Hall

Major Republican event scheduled for Jan. 22-23 in Nashua

CONCORD, N.H. —Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush on Monday became the seventh Republican presidential candidate to confirm that he will speak at the state GOP’s First-in-the-Nation Presidential Town Hall scheduled for later this month in Nashua.

The Jan. 22-23 event will be held at the Radisson Hotel in the state’s second-largest city and is expected to draw about 1,000 activists and interested voters from New Hampshire and beyond.

Bush joins U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, former U.S. Sen. Rick Sa****um, former business executive Carly Fiorina, former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore and Govs. Chris Christie of New Jersey and John Kasich of Ohio in planning to speak and answer questions at the event.

Candidates will speak to attendees and answer questions throughout the day on Jan. 23, following an evening dinner on Jan. 22 featuring former Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter, former State Department official Liz Cheney.

In statements released to WMUR.com, Bush said:

“New Hampshire has a special place in our democracy and Granite Staters earn and maintain this status by being the most discerning voters. I love campaigning here and engaging people on a personal level about the great challenges that face our nation. It is an extraordinary part of our process that must never change. I look forward to participating in the Presidential Town Hall on January 23rd and further discussing my plan to restore American leadership in the world and destroying ISIS."

NHGOP chairwoman Jennifer Horn said:

"We are honored that Gov. Jeb Bush will be joining us for our First-in-the-Nation Presidential Town Hall. With only five weeks until Granite Staters cast their initial vote for President of the United States, we are fortunate to have so many qualified candidates to contrast their stories of success with Hillary Clinton's dishonesty and record of failure. Under his strong leadership, Gov. Bush brought fiscal discipline to Florida, resulting in rising incomes, a higher quality of life and a better future for his state. His proven leadership under difficult circumstances provides an excellent example of what we need as nation after two terms of President Obama. We look forward to hearing from Gov. Bush at this important ' ' event later this month."

6 hopefuls slated for Nashua event

NASHUA - Six presidential candidates to date have signed up for the New Hampshire Republican Party's "First in the Nation Presidential Town Hall" next month.

The party announced that Lindsey Graham, Chris Christie and Jim Gilmore will join Carly Fiorina, Rick Sa****um and Rand Paul for the two-day event set for January 22-23 at the Radisson Hotel in Nashua.

The event's first evening will feature former Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter, Liz Cheney, a former state department official and prominent conservative advocate mostly in her native Wyoming.

For Christie, the blunt-speaking New Jersey governor who has been steadily raising in the polls here, the event offers a prime stage to make his pitch to those undecided voters.

"After holding dozens of town hall meeting across New Hampshire, I am honored to be a part of the New Hampshire GOP's 'First-in-the-Nation Presidential Town Hall,' " Christie said in a statement. "Throughout my time traveling New Hampshire, I've talked to voters about a number serious issues facing this country including keeping America safe and addressing the drug epidemic facing this country. New Hampshire voters have the incredibly important job of picking our party's nominee and I look forward to continuing the conversation at this town hall."

Christie returns to Greater Nashua next Monday with stops at the Hollis Pharmacy and Pelham's VFW Post.

Another constant visitor to the Granite State has been South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, who has been struggling to make any gains in the polls. Even his swings with New Hampshire's favorite adopted son, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, have not given him any bump here.

"I am looking forward to participating in yet another town hall meeting in New Hampshire. The Granite State plays a unique and critical role in determining the person best suited to become President," Graham said in a statement. "My message of keeping American secure through strength has become a mantra for Republicans because of the forum the first-in-the-nation primary has offered me."

Paul, a libertarian- leaning senator from Kentucky, was the first to sign on for the summit. Fiorina, the former CEO of HP, and Sa****um, the 2012 Republican presidential runner-up and former Pennsylvania senator, later confirmed they would attend as well. Gilmore, the off-the-radar Virginia governor, quietly announced he will appear at the event.

The Cheneys will speak following the welcome reception on Friday evening. The second full-day will feature discussions with all attending presidential candidates and conclude with dinner.

The state Republican committee is anticipating more than 1,000 attendees to gather in Nashua two weeks before the first-in-the-nation primary. The state will celebrate the 100th anniversary of its primary in 2016.

All Republican presidential candidates have been invited to attend. A full agenda for the event will be released in the next few weeks. Tickets begin at $40 and go up to $499 for an all-access VIP pass.

Christie latest candidate to confirm appearance at NHGOP’s First-in-Nation Town Hall

Major Republican event scheduled for Jan. 22-23 in Nashua

MANCHESTER, N.H. —New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Thursday will be officially announced as the fifth candidate to confirm an appearance at the New Hampshire Republican Party’s First-in-the-Nation Town Hall event, scheduled for Jan. 22-23.
Christie joins previously announced candidates U.S. Sens. Rand Paul and Lindsey Graham, former U.S. Sen. Rick Sa****um and former business executive Carly Fiorina for the pre-primary event at the Radisson Hotel in Nashua.

Also scheduled to speak are former Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter, Liz Cheney, a former state department official.
The two-day event is aimed at attracting grassroots activists from across the state for what the party is calling “an affordable, enjoyable and educational political experience that will inform their decisions at the ballot box.”

The town hall was inspired by the party’s First-in-the-Nation Republican Leadership Summit held in April, which attracted 19 candidates, 700 activists and 200 journalists. The January town hall is expected to draw a larger crowd because it is being held at a larger venue.

The event will begin with a dinner on the evening of Jan. 22. The appearances by presidential candidates will take place throughout Jan. 23, with a closing dinner that evening.
During the day, each candidate will appear individually, address the audience and answer questions.

Christie said: "After holding dozens of town hall meeting across New Hampshire, I am honored to be a part of the New Hampshire GOP's First-in-the-Nation Presidential Town Hall.

NHGOP Chairwoman Jennifer Horn added: "We appreciate the governor's continued commitment to New Hampshire’s political tradition of open and accessible campaigning. Having held many town hall-style meetings across New Hampshire, he has shown a unique ability to connect with the audience and tell it like it is. He makes an excellent addition to the growing roster of presidential candidates attending this historic event.”

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Thursday will be officially announced as the fifth candidate to confirm an appearance at the New Hampshire Republican Party’s First-in-the-Nation Town Hall event, scheduled for Jan. 22-23.

SA****UM, FIORINA TO ATTEND NHGOP TOWN HALL. Two more Republican presidential candidates have signed on to attend the New Hampshire Republican Party’s “First-in-the-Nation Presidential Town Hall” on Jan. 22-23.

We’ve learned former U.S. Sen. Rick Sa****um has agreed to attend, and the party confirmed that also on board is former business executive Carly Fiorina.

They are the second and third candidates to confirm appearances, following U.S. Rand Paul, who announced on Monday that he will attend.

“New Hampshire voters are some of the most informed and passionate, and they are very concerned about the direction Barack Obama is taking our nation,” Sa****um said. “We are a nation at war with radical Islam, our economy has flat-lined, and our communities are being torn apart from within. I am looking forward to addressing these and all other issues of concern to New Hampshire voters at the town hall."

Fiorina said, “Whenever I visit New Hampshire, I’m reminded of how Granite State voters understand the great importance of citizen government and the first-in-the-nation primary. I look forward to speaking at the First-in-the-Nation Town Hall in January about my plan to take our country back and out of the hands of the professional political class."

NHGOP Chairwoman Jennifer Horn said the party is pleased with the growing roster of speakers.
