Nashua Fire Rescue The Nashua Fire Marshal's Office is responsible to review all plans and inspect work to see that it conforms to all relative building and Life Safety codes.

This division is also tasked with fire investigation, fire and life safety inspectional services, fire plan review and public education and injury prevention programs.

🚒 Nashua Fire Rescue – August 2026 Incident Statistics

During the month of August 2026, Nashua Fire Rescue responded to 1,181 incidents throughout the city (YTD total: 9,336). Our members are prepared to respond to a wide range of emergencies and service calls to keep the Nashua community safe.

Below is a breakdown of the types of incidents we responded to last month and what they include:

🔥 Fires – 15
Includes outside fires, structure fires, cooking fires, and vehicle fires.

⚠️ Hazardous Situations – 42
Includes gas leaks or gas odors, carbon monoxide (CO) incidents, electrical hazards, unusual odors, and smoke investigations.

👮 Law Enforcement Support – 5
Assisting the Nashua Police Department and New Hampshire State Police when fire department resources are requested.

🚑 Medical Calls – 692
Emergency medical responses handled by Nashua Fire Rescue personnel and AMR. (AMR ambulance only responses are not included)

📟 No Emergency – 299
Includes false alarms, malfunctioning alarm systems, bomb scares, canceled calls, and incidents where no emergency was found.

🛠 Public Service – 115
Includes fire or smoke alarm activations, carbon monoxide alarms, service calls, lift assists, and station move-ups or standby assignments.

🧗 Rescue – 13
Includes technical rescue responses such as low-angle rescues, motor vehicle accidents involving entrapment and/or elevator / escalator rescues.

🇺🇸 Remembering 25 Years | Never Forget

Over the weekend, members of Nashua Fire Rescue, along with friends and family, participated in several events honoring the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

Our members took part in the Veterans Count 5K and the annual National Fallen Firefighters 9/11 Stair Climb, climbing in honor and memory of the firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice that day.

Members also came together at The Lost Cowboy to support the Tunnel to Towers Foundation fundraiser, helping continue the mission of supporting fallen and injured first responders and military personnel.

These events are more than just races, climbs, and fundraisers. They are opportunities to remember, honor, and never forget the sacrifices made by our first responders and members of the military—those who have given everything, and those who continue to put their lives on the line every day to protect and serve others.

A special thank you to Dave Morin and Jeff Hastings for capturing these events and helping us preserve these memories through their incredible photography.

25 years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Nashua Fire Rescue - Fire Alarm Dispatcher Spotlight - Chris Carter

Chris grew up on Cape Cod and currently resides in Nashua with his fiancé. He attended UMass Lowell, to study meteorology, but felt something was missing. So after obtaining his EMT certification and graduating from paramedic school, Chris earned his degree in Health Science from Granite State University.

Chris joined NFR in February 2020, bringing with him decades of experience in EMS and as an emergency medical dispatcher. Previously, he worked for Patriot Ambulance, Cataldo Ambulance and Boston MedFlight. On Monday, April 15, 2013, Chris was dispatching EMS for the Boston Marathon when the marathon bombings occurred. After this incident, Chris realized that his role that day was a career defining moment. He says that he knew then that he’d retire performing the work that gave great satisfaction, helping others in their time of need.

One of his big passions is helping First Responders who struggle with substance use disorders and mental health issues due to job related stress. Chris has been sober coming up on 8 years and is an active member in the local recovery community. His personal experiences and firsthand knowledge has made him a valuable member and Team Leader on NFR's Member Assistance Team. Chris also serves as one of the Directors for the Nashua Firemen’s Relief Association.

Off duty, Chris volunteers his time as a member of the New Hampshire TERT team (Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce). For fun, he enjoys fishing with his two sons, spending time with his grandkids and going on road trips with his fiancé. Chris also loves local/regional history. He often seeks out the history of his native Wampanoag Tribe and the hidden history of New England, while on one of his many back road adventures.

General Incident Description:

At 2:56 p.m., Nashua Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire at 9 Hughey Street. Upon arrival, crews from the Amherst Street Station (Engine 1) observed active fire venting from the attached garage of an occupied 1.5-story single-family home. Firefighters immediately deployed two hose lines to attack and extinguish the fire within the garage, while simultaneously conducting a primary search of the structure. Crews confirmed that all occupants had successfully self-evacuated prior to the department's arrival, and no injuries were reported. While personnel successfully prevented the fire from extending into the main living quarters, the home sustained extensive smoke damage throughout.

Red cross responded to help the displaced Occupants.

Mutual Aid to Scene: None

Mutual Aid Coverage/Stations: Hudson

Rescues: All Occupants had self evacuated.

Accomplishments: Rapid Fire Extinguishment, fire contained to the building of origin.

Injuries: None

Cause: The cause is under investigation by the City of Nashua Fire Marshal’s office.

PSA: When smoke detectors sound always leave the building immediately, and close doors on your way out.

🌊 Nashua Fire Rescue Dive Team Training

This week, the Nashua Fire Rescue Dive Team conducted specialized training at Crown Hill Pool to integrate our new hardwired underwater communication system into our emergency response operations.

The new system allows divers to communicate directly with members of the dive team on shore while operating underwater. This enhanced communication capability will help facilitate more efficient searches, improve coordination between divers and surface personnel, and, most importantly, increase the safety of our divers during underwater emergencies.

A special thank you to Nashua Parks & Recreation for allowing us to utilize the Crowne Hill Pool for this important training.

We would also like to recognize Ocean Technology Systems for their expertise in designing and developing this communication system to meet the unique needs of our dive team.

Training like this ensures our members are prepared to respond safely and effectively when called upon. 🚒🌊

Drew Cote joined Nashua Fire Rescue in 2023

Although relatively new to the fire service, Drew has proudly served as a Fire Alarm Operator with Nashua Fire Rescue for the past three years. During that time, he has embraced every opportunity to learn the profession and is committed to providing the highest level of service to first responders and the Nashua community.

Originally from Nashua, Drew spent several years living in different places after high school before returning home. He is proud to once again call Nashua home and to serve the community where he grew up.

Outside of work, Drew enjoys spending time with his dogs, family, and friends. He also loves attending concerts and catching a baseball game whenever he gets the chance.

General Incident Description:

At 03:55 Am, Nashua Fire Rescue responded to a reported building Fire at 5 Lynde ST. Upon arrival Engine 1 from the Amherst street station, had fire showing from an occupied 2-1/2 story single family house. On Arrival a second alarm was transmitted by Deputy Chief Kerrigan bringing all Nashua Fire companies to the scene. Crews stretched numerous hose lines to extinguish the heavy fire. Access into the building was difficult due extreme hoarding conditions. A search of the building was conducted and was determined that all occupants had self-evacuated with no other occupants inside.

Red cross responded to help the displaced Occupants.

Mutual Aid to Scene: None

Mutual Aid Coverage/Stations: Merrimack, Manchester, Hudson, Tyngsborough, Chelmsford

Rescues: All Occupants had self evacuated.

Accomplishments: Rapid Fire Extinguishment, fire contained to the building of origin.

Injuries: 1 Firefighter sustained an ankle injury.

Cause: The cause is under investigation by the City of Nashua Fire Marshal’s office.

PSA: When smoke detectors sound always leave the building immediately, and close doors on your way out.

Nashua Fire Rescue - Fire Alarm Dispatcher Spotlight - Greg Nolan

Greg Nolan joined the Nashua Fire Department in 2024 and has quickly become a valued member of the team. He is a Nashua native and dedicated to serving the community he grew up in. He approaches the job with professionalism, reliability, and a calm demeanor.

Outside of the firehouse, Greg is known for his unique tastes—most notably his steadfast refusal to put condiments on just about anything and his firm belief that a burger is better without cheese. While those culinary choices may spark debate around the dinner table, there’s no questioning his passion for the things he truly loves.

A lifelong music enthusiast, Greg is an avid fan of Phish and the Grateful Dead and can always appreciate a great live show. He’s also a die-hard Boston Bruins supporter, cheering on the Black and Gold through every season. He loves bringing his girlfriend Jenny to concerts and sporting events.

Above all else, Greg’s greatest pride is his daughter, Mia. He’ll tell anyone who asks that she’s the coolest person he knows, and spending time with her is what matters most.

Whether he’s answering emergency calls, listening to his favorite band, or rooting for the Bruins, Greg Nolan brings loyalty, authenticity, and a good sense of humor to everything he does.

Behind every emergency response is the Nashua Fire Rescue Fire Alarm Division, working 24/7 to coordinate resources, answer calls for help, and ensure firefighters and paramedics have the information they need to respond quickly and safely.

During July 2026, our Fire Alarm operators handled a significant amount of activity:

📞 Phone Calls – 3,662
Emergency and non-emergency calls received from the public, businesses, and partner agencies requesting assistance or information.

📡 Radio Transmissions – 15,992
Radio communications across 13 monitored Nashua Fire Rescue trunked 800 MHz channels, coordinating incident responses, unit status updates, and operational communications.

🚒 Calls for Service – 4,936
Non-emergency and non-apparatus related tasks such as Knox box key requests, fire alarm system work, apparatus mechanical issues, and other service-related activities.

The Fire Alarm Division plays a critical role in the daily operations of Nashua Fire Rescue, ensuring that communication between dispatchers and responding units remains clear, organized, and efficient.
