At 16:30 this afternoon we were dispatched to a brush fire on Perry Pond rd. The fire was approximately 100' x 200' and was contained quickly. This is just a reminder that even though the burn ban is no longer in effect, it is still very dry and to be very careful when open burning.

Congratulations to our own Cameron Sullivan on completing Basic Exterior Fire Operations this spring, his first step in the fire service. And congratulations to the rest of the class making that commitment as well.

At approximately 13:30, we were dispatched to a fire alarm at a property that has experienced several unfounded alarms this year. However, today's alarm was due to an electrical fire inside the wall. This serves as an important reminder that not all activated alarms are false. As first responders, it's essential that we approach every call as a true emergency.

At approximately 5:00 pm we were dispatched to a working brushfire on Buddenhagen Rd. 24-2 arrived on scene shortly after dispatch and immediately called for a resound for all available manpower as the fire was quickly burning up a steep hill. Yulan Fire Department and Lake Huntington Fire Company were requested with all available manpower and equipment. Also thank you to Beach Lake Fire Co. and White Lake Fire Company for standing by.

The members of the Narrowsburg Fire Department would like to remind everyone to use this time to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, coinciding with daylight savings. Early detection of an unsafe environment can be the key to survival!

▪️clean dust and debris from sampling sensor
▪️check expiration dates and replace units as needed

At approximately 2000 hours yesterday, the Narrowsburg/Lava Fire Department was requested for mutual aid into Wayne County, PA to assist the Beach Lake Fire Department and the Welcome Lake Fire Department at a working structure fire.

Car 1, Car 2, our Engine with a crew of five firefighters, and our Tanker responded to the scene. Our members assisted with fire suppression and operations for approximately an hour and a half before being released by Command.

We are always proud to support our neighboring departments and work together to protect our communities. Thank you to all agencies on scene for your teamwork and professionalism.

2025 proved to be a busy year for our small 100% Volunteer team. The Narrowsburg/Lava fire department responded to a total of 111 calls with an average of 10 members on scene per call with a high of 19 members. 85 of our calls were run within the Narrowsburg fire district with the remaining mutual aid into Pennsylvania and other neighboring districts in Sullivan County. Thank you to all of our members and their families for your hard work and dedication. Looking forward to another great year.
