Here is an update concerning the heat threat tomorrow through at least early next week.

Key Messages:
• Hazardous heat will become an increasing concern beginning tomorrow and continuing into next week.
• A heat advisory has been issued area-wide for tomorrow afternoon into the early evening.
• Additional heat-related headlines are likely each day through the remainder of the 7-day forecast period, with some days potentially requiring Extreme Heat Warnings.

Impacts:
• Heat index readings are forecast to climb above 108 degrees for multiple hours tomorrow and Friday, rising to 110-115 degrees over the weekend and into early next week.
• The combination of high afternoon temperatures and high humidity will lead to increased risk of heat-related illness. With overnight lows remaining well above normal, there will be little, if any, relief from the heat for those without access to air conditioning or cooling centers (especially this weekend and into next week)
• In these conditions, heat illnesses can occur quickly - especially for heat-sensitive populations such as the elderly, infants, and unhoused populations who lack access to air conditioning or cooling centers.
• Conditions like these also typically result in an increase in ER/ED visits due to heat-related illness and an increase in heat-related fatalities, especially the longer the heat wave lasts since heat impacts on the human body tend to be cumulative.

The graphics highlight tomorrow's heat advisory area as well as the heat outlook for the remainder of the 7-day forecast period and the "week 2" period.
