Today, May 16, 2026 marks the start date of this year’s National Safe Boating Week. Members of the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary work with the community to promote safe recreational boating. The observance of National Safe Boating Week runs through Friday, May 22nd.
Members of Flotilla 96 Wiggins Pass in Northern Collier County were out in force today at Cocohatchee River Park. In addition to performing free Vessel Safety Checks of recreational boats, the Flotilla also hosted an open house at their station located in the park. As boaters entered the park to launch their vessels, they were greeted at the Flotilla’s public information booth. Shown here are member Chris von Zwhel, new member Maja Dobosz, and member Joe Comey in the information booth. Also shown are members John Irwin and Robert Miller performing a Vessel Safety check.
