School’s out for summer, Collier County! ☀️🎉

We’ve had a blast helping celebrate the end of the school year with lots of spray downs across the community these past few weeks, and today officially marks the last day of school! Seeing all the smiling faces and excited kids has been the perfect way to kick off summer break. 🚒💦

As everyone heads into summer fun mode, here are a few important safety reminders for kids and families:

💧 Never swim alone and always keep a close eye on children around water — even strong swimmers.
🛟 Wear properly fitted life jackets when boating or around open water.
🚲 Helmets should always be worn when riding bikes, scooters, skateboards, or anything with wheels.
🚦 Stay alert around traffic, even when riding or walking on sidewalks. Drivers may not always see you.
🚸 Be extra careful at intersections and always look both ways before crossing the street.
☀️ Stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and take breaks from the heat.

Have an amazing, safe, and fun summer, Collier County! 😎🌴

Back-to-back champions! 🛶🏆

Congratulations to Greater Naples Fire Rescue LT John Richard and DE Cory Neilsen for taking 1st place in the First Responders heat at the recent The Great Canoe Races of Naples!

That’s two years in a row bringing home the win, and we couldn’t be more proud of their teamwork, determination, and impressive paddling skills. Safe to say these two really know how to “paddle” under pressure!

Way to keep our winning streak afloat and represent Greater Naples Fire Rescue on the water! 🚒🌊

Hurricane Season starts June 1st! The best time to prepare for hurricanes is BEFORE hurricane season begins. Avoid having to rush through potentially life-saving preparations by waiting until it’s too late. Get your disaster supplies while the shelves are still stocked, and get that insurance checkup early, as flood insurance requires a 30-day waiting period. noaa.gov/prepare-before-hurricane-season

Today, Engine 23 responded to a residential structure fire on Cherry Tree Lane. Thanks to a rapid response, crews arrived on scene just four minutes after dispatch and were able to achieve a very quick fire knockdown.

As firefighters arrived, neighbors alerted crews that a dog was still inside the home. Without hesitation, Lieutenant David Borowski entered the flame-filled house and rescued Bear.

Additional crews from Engine 22, Engine 25, Engine 70, Ladder 21, Squad 21, and Squad 70 all responded to assist with fire attack, search efforts, and overhaul operations. Collier EMS and Collier County Sheriff’s Office were also on scene assisting crews. The homeowner was transported to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

Thankfully, Bear is safe and is being cared for by a trusted neighbor down the street. After everything he went through today, Bear was understandably shaken up. He came out briefly, but the smell of smoke on the firefighters brought back the trauma of the fire, and he quickly retreated back inside.

Today’s incident is a reminder that our firefighters are committed to protecting every life — including our four-legged family members. Great work by all crews on scene today. 🐾🚒

Southwest Florida Residents! We are less than a week away from the start of Hurricane Season. Are you prepared? The first step of preparing for hurricanes is to know your risk. Find out today what types of water and wind hazards could happen where you live. Hurricanes are not just a coastal problem. Impacts from wind and water can be felt hundreds of miles inland, and significant impacts can occur regardless of the storm’s strength. Know if you live in an area prone to flooding, if you live in an evacuation zone, and identify any structural weaknesses in your home.

In observance of Memorial Day, our Administrative and Fire & Life Safety offices will be closed.

While our offices may be closed, our firefighters are always on duty — serving this community 24/7, 365 days a year, even on holidays. If you need us, we are only a phone call away.

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the heroes who gave their lives in service to our nation while continuing our commitment to serve and protect our community every day. 🇺🇸

After a rain shower moved through today, FF Angelina Hernandez captured this beautiful shot of a rainbow over Station 73. 🌈

As many of you enjoy the Memorial Day weekend, we want to remind everyone to stay safe both on the roads and around the water.

🚗 Slow down during and after rain showers — roads can stay slick even after the rain stops
💡 Turn your headlights on when driving in rainy or low-visibility conditions
📱 Stay focused and avoid distracted driving
🌊 Never drive through flooded roadways
🚤 If you’re boating this weekend, wear a life jacket and never operate a vessel impaired

While many are spending time with family and friends this holiday weekend, your firefighters remain on duty 24/7 and ready to respond whenever needed. Stay safe and have a great Memorial Day weekend.
