The Naplate Fire Department is proud to announce that we have been awarded a $26,000 Small Equipment Grant through the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal. Through this grant, the department will acquire a turnout gear washer, dryer, one Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), and two SCBA air cylinders.

The purchase of the turnout gear washer and dryer reflects our continued commitment to the safety and well-being of our firefighters while ensuring our equipment receives the proper care and maintenance it requires. In 2022, the Naplate Fire Department was awarded funding to purchase 11 new sets of turnout gear. This new equipment will help protect that investment by allowing us to properly clean and maintain our gear in accordance with industry standards, ultimately extending its service life and enhancing firefighter safety.

The addition of the SCBA and air cylinders also marks the completion of a multi-year project initiated in 2023 to replace the department’s outdated respiratory protection equipment. Through a combination of grants, donations, fundraising efforts, and department funding, we have successfully achieved our goal of replacing our SCBA inventory to meet the needs of our firefighters.

The Naplate Fire Department extends its sincere appreciation to the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal for its continued support of volunteer fire departments and its investment in firefighter safety. This funding will have a lasting impact on our ability to serve and protect our community.

The members of the Naplate Volunteer Fire Department would like to sincerely thank Compeer Financial for their generous grant, which allowed our department to purchase a new Milwaukee Cut Off Saw and Milwaukee M18 chainsaw.

This equipment replaces aging saws that had served the department for many years. The new Milwaukee Cut Off Saw provides improved reliability, faster deployment, and enhanced cutting capabilities for vehicle rescue, forcible entry, fire suppression support, ventilation operations, and other emergency responses. The new chainsaw will strengthen our response to storm damage, downed trees, and other incidents, while also assisting with ventilation and fireground operations when needed.

As a volunteer fire department, grant funding helps us continue modernizing our equipment while reducing the financial burden on our organization.

Coming in September is our Inaugural Naplate Fire Fest, which will combine our Annual Car Show and Safety Day together with the addition of a Motorcycle Show into one event!

We will have much more information to come, however get this event on your calendars now for Labor Day Weekend!

Wow… what an incredible night!

Our Spaghetti Dinner was officially SOLD OUT, and we truly couldn’t have asked for a better turnout. Because of your support, this event was a huge success for the Naplate Volunteer Fire Department!

We want to thank everyone who came out to eat, support, and spend the evening with us. Your continued support means everything to our department and allows us to keep serving our community.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated baked goods, alcohol, raffle items, and food supplies—this event would not have been possible without your generosity.
