Grand Opening of the The Historic Borreo Building - Napa

Whetstone Event Management announces Grand Opening of the Historic Borreo Building, marking a new chapter for one of Napa’s most distinctive landmarks. A Destination for Corporate Retreats, Celebrations, Wine Dinners and Community Events.

Whetstone Wine Cellars, a respected family-owned winery known for its single-vineyard, single- varietal wines and hospitality-driven experiences, is expanding its footprint in downtown Napa through Whetstone Event Management of the historic Borreo Building.

Constructed in 1877, the Borreo Building, one of Napa’s most recognizable heritage structures, has been meticulously restored to preserve its architectural integrity while introducing modern amenities. Built from locally quarried Soda Canyon stone façade, soaring ceilings, and panoramic views of the Napa River, under Whetstone’s
stewardship, the venue will serve as a premier private event space, catering to corporate gatherings, wine-focused experiences, community fundraisers and celebrations.

The venue offers flexible indoor and outdoor spaces to accommodate up to 300 guests which include riverside patios, a redwood grove, multiple gathering spaces, commercial kitchens, expansive bars, state-of-the-art audiovisual capabilities, and unobstructed views of the Napa River and downtown Napa.

“The Borreo Building stands at the intersection of history, hospitality, wine, and community.” said Jamey Whetstone, founder and winemaker of Whetstone Wine Cellars. “It is more than a venue — it’s a piece of Napa’s story.”

For Michelle Whetstone, a Napa native whose family roots extend deep into the valley, the restoration is especially meaningful.

“As a Napa native, it means a great deal to help preserve one of our community’s most iconic buildings.” said Michelle Whetstone. “The Borreo Building represents the spirit of Napa itself. For years, we’ve invested our passion, vision, and hard work into crafting a warm, inviting space at Whetstone.

We’re honored to welcome the community here, host events in such a remarkable space, and carry that same spirit of hospitality forward at Borreo.”

Meeting planners can choose from venue-only packages, curated wine experiences featuring wines personally selected by Jamey Whetstone, or comprehensive event
management services that include catering, décor, staffing, entertainment, and customized itineraries.

This strategic move aligns with Whetstone’s brand ethos -blending heritage, and hospitality -while diversifying its business model beyond its existing Atlas Peak historic chateau tasting room. The Borreo Building’s central location in downtown Napa offers high visibility, accessibility for visitors, and synergy with the region’s thriving culinary and wine tourism sectors.

There’s more than one way to bring people together.

Sometimes it’s 200 people at a great event. Sometimes it’s a dozen people around a table tackling a tough issue, finding common ground, building a partnership or figuring out what we can do better together.

That’s really what convening means, and it’s at the heart of so much of the Napa Chamber’s work.

Our CEO's latest Napa Valley Register column is about the many ways we bring people together and, more importantly, what can happen when we do.

At the Napa Chamber's recent event, nearly 200 people united for networking, good food, local wines, and new partnerships that support businesses, nonprofits, and community growth in Napa.
