💧 What happens when nature does the work for us?

At Huichica Creek, 70 acres of wetlands and floodplains are quietly preparing Napa Valley for floods, storms, and rising seas. 🌿

This free webinar will take you behind the scenes: see how water moves through the landscape, why this creek is such a rare opportunity, and how the project is helping nature and our communities adapt.

By joining us, you’ll get a closer look at this restoration effort and ways to be part of what’s next.

📅 When: June 2, 6-7 PM

So many thanks to all of you that joined us on this chilly and overcast morning for the Earth Day Napa Community Cleanup!! We met new friends of the human AND canine variety, picked up over 2,000 cigarette butts, saw lots of you that have been joining us for many years, and were inspired by the number of youth that came out to help us Keep Napa Clean! We also had a lot of groups that joined us, including but certainly not limited to: , Girl Scout Troop 10816, Target, , , Rotary Clubs, , , and so many more I know I missed! **If you were there and we missed giving you a shout out, let us know and share your photos!**

Special shout out to your Site Captains- they make this whole show possible, and haul very gross, dirty buckets in their personal vehicles all around town!

Thanks again for a lovely day of picking up trash, keeping our minds sharp by learning and remembering what goes in what bin, and spending time with our community!

Who’s joining us for tomorrow’s Earth Day Napa Community Cleanup? 🌎 This is our 18th year, and we’re excited to keep the tradition going with you!

If you’re still deciding where to go, consider the South Jefferson Wetlands. This site has been on our list since the beginning- not because it’s trashy, but because its location along the tidal Napa River naturally collects debris coming in from the Bay and washing down with the rains. There’s always meaningful work to be done.

The walk from the meeting place out to the river follows a dry, mowed path (thanks, Flood Control District!) and offers incredible views- birds, native plants, and wetlands in action. If the timing lines up, you might even spot volunteers across the river at Kennedy Park. 👋

We have 6 cleanup sites total, but South Jefferson is a great choice if you want a scenic, impactful experience.

Registration is now closed, but walk-ups are absolutely welcome- we’d love to have you join us!

Visit NapaRCD.org/EarthDay for the full list of sites.

Diversity and reducing chemicals are our top priorities 🍇

During visits to three local farms, we saw firsthand how growing competition between viruses and native species can actually help create a healthier vineyard environment. This balance supports reduced chemical use while allowing native flowers to thrive among the vines. With spring just around the corner, these flowers will soon bloom, bringing vibrant color and life to our fields 🌼

Beyond their beauty, we are intentionally planting California native flowers to encourage pollinators to stay active in our vineyards. We hope this natural approach will help reduce the need for chemical fertilizers. By limiting chemical use, our grapes can grow more naturally and healthily, creating a better environment for our farmers and a more enjoyable experience for our visitors. 😊
