It's not every day that our office gets to sport crazy kicks! And with this being the last week for our soon-to-be-retired Assistant District Attorney Paul Gero, we thought we'd have a little fun and send him off in style!

Our office stands with our colleagues at the Fresno County District Attorney's Office following the senseless and violent attack on one of their Senior Deputy District Attorneys.

Our thoughts are with the prosecutor, his family and his colleagues as he receives medical care and begins his recovery. We are grateful to the Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies and medical professionals who responded and are caring for him.

No one should face violence for doing the important work of seeking justice and protecting our communities. The Napa County District Attorney’s Office stands with our fellow prosecutors and the entire Fresno County District Attorney’s Office during this difficult time.

Nuestra oficina se solidariza con nuestros colegas de la Fiscalía del Condado de Fresno tras el ataque violento y sin sentido contra uno de sus fiscales adjuntos principales.

Nuestros pensamientos están con el fiscal, su familia y sus colegas mientras recibe atención médica y comienza su recuperación. Agradecemos a los agentes del Sheriff del Condado de Fresno y al personal médico que respondieron al incidente y que están brindándole atención.

Our office is standing together.

One of our Senior Deputy District Attorneys was the victim of a brazen stabbing this afternoon in Courthouse Park. He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he is currently receiving medical care and is being evaluated.

We are outraged and deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence. Our prosecutors come to work every day committed to pursuing justice, standing up for victims and protecting our community. They should be able to do that work without fear of violence.

Out of respect for our colleague and his family, we will not be releasing his name. We ask our community to respect their privacy during this difficult time.

We are grateful to the Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies who responded so quickly and apprehended the suspect, as well as the medical personnel caring for our colleague.

Please keep our colleague and his family in your thoughts and prayers as he receives care and begins his recovery.

Counterfeit pills can look like real medication, but they may contain fentanyl. You can't see, taste, or smell fentanyl. Even one pill can be deadly. This year, start a conversation with the young people in your life. Talk early. Share facts. Help prevent overdose.

El 21 de agosto es el Día Nacional de Prevención y Concientización sobre el Fentanilo, un día para recordar las vidas perdidas por sobredosis relacionadas con fentanilo fabricado ilegalmente y tomar acción para ayudar a prevenir futuras muertes.
Las pastillas falsificadas pueden parecer medicamentos auténticos, pero pueden contener fentanilo. El fentanilo no se puede ver, saborear ni oler. Incluso una sola pastilla puede ser mortal.

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to our newest post-bar law clerks at the Napa County District Attorney’s Office, Michael Barreiro (second from left) and Isaac Zarate (third from left)!

Michael is returning to our office after clerking with us last summer. He recently graduated from UC Law San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings) College of Law and is currently awaiting his Bar exam results.

Isaac recently graduated from UC Davis School of Law of Law and is also awaiting Bar exam results. Before joining us, he clerked with the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office and earned his undergraduate degree from UC Irvine.

We’re excited to have both in the office and look forward to watching them grow as they begin this next chapter in their legal careers. Welcome to the team, Michael and Isaac!

¡Acompáñenos a darle una cálida bienvenida a nuestros nuevos asistentes legales que se incorporan a la Oficina del Fiscal del Condado de Napa después de haber presentado el examen de la Barra de Abogados de California, Michael Barreiro (segundo de izquierda) e Isaac Zarate (tercero de izquierda)!

Michael regresa a nuestra oficina después de haber trabajado como asistente legal con nosotros el verano pasado. Recientemente se graduó de la Facultad de Derecho de UC Law San Francisco (anteriormente UC Hastings) y actualmente está esperando los resultados del examen de la Barra de Abogados.

Isaac se graduó recientemente de la Facultad de Derecho de UC Davis y también está esperando los resultados del examen de la Barra de Abogados. Antes de incorporarse a nuestra oficina, trabajó como asistente legal en la Oficina del Fiscal de Distrito del Condado de Yolo y obtuvo su título universitario de UC Irvine.
