RECRUITMENT OPEN HOUSE
APRIL 18 AND 19
12:00 TO 3:00

The Nanuet Fire Department invites residents to visit our facility on April 18 and 19 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. to learn about opportunities to become a volunteer firefighter. Due to a decline in membership alongside an increase in emergency calls, we are seeking new members to ensure we maintain the highest standards of fire and emergency services. Our station is located at 29 Old Middletown Road, Nanuet. We encourage individuals aged 16 and above to attend this event, which aims to raise awareness about the need for volunteer firefighters and to outline the benefits of membership. Tours of the station and apparatus will be available, and attendees may try on gear, obtain information, and ask questions regarding becoming a member. For additional details, please visit our website at www.nanuetfd.org/content/recruitment

Tomorrow marks 5 years since we lost fellow firefighter Jared Lloyd from Columbian Engine Co. #1 Jared was so many things, a friend, a father, a son, but most of all a hero. We will NEVER FORGET the ultimate sacrifice that Jared made. Jared put other before himself, he rescued and saved countless people he never met. 5 years is a long time, but for many it was like yesterday. Everybody lost a hero that night on March 23, 2021. Rest peacefully Jared. You are missed and NEVER FORGOTTEN.

🚫🔥 Annual Brush Burning Ban Begins March 16 🔥🚫

Beginning March 16 through May 14, open burning of brush is prohibited across New York State to help prevent wildfires during the dry spring season.

As the snow melts and vegetation dries out, even a small fire can quickly spread out of control. The annual burn ban helps protect our communities, homes, forests, and emergency responders.

During this time:
❌ Burning of brush and yard debris is not allowed
✔️ Small cooking fires, campfires, and certain agricultural burns are still permitted when conducted safely

We encourage residents to dispose of yard debris through local recycling or composting programs instead of burning.

This statewide ban is issued annually by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to reduce the risk of wildfires and protect both residents and first responders.

If you see an uncontrolled fire, please report it immediately.

🔥 Help keep our community safe this spring by following the burn ban.
