The 2025 report for Town of Nantucket is available on our website.

Sampled reflections is a series to help break down some of the information you can find in the report.

This week’s focus is Sesachacha Pond ✨

Main point is the pond is having higher levels of nutrient input, this video discusses the nitrogen levels measured.

More nitrogen means higher likelihood of harmful algal blooms and a more stressful environment for life to live in the pond.

💧Hope still exists!

There are three town strategies aimed at improving Sesachacha Pond water quality. One being the twice a year pond opening event.

Plus there are many individual decisions you can make that have a direct impact on pond betterment!

Learn more on the Natural Resources Department website about them or find out water quality specialist to ask your questions!
