City crews continued the summer's chip seal operation this week, chipping portions of Dooley Ln, Midland Blvd, Greenhurst Rd and Iowa Ave. On Wednesday, they worked in the roundabout at Midland Blvd and Iowa Ave -- we appreciated the community's patience while the intersection was closed.

Beginning Monday, June 15, the Street Division will continue work on Iowa Ave and Midland Blvd.

Reminder that the speed limit in the chip zone is 20mph. Lowered speeds help ensure that everyone can get home safely.

Daily project updates are available at https://www.cityofnampa.us/420/Crack-Sealing-Chip-Sealing. Check out the new interactive map to follow along on our progress!

Tonight, the Association of Idaho Cities honored our late Mayor Rick Hogaboam with the John Evans Award in recognition of his outstanding service. Mimi Hogaboam received the award and her son Ezra shared heartfelt words of appreciation on behalf of their entire family. Thank you to AIC and its members for honoring Rick and the Hogaboam family. (Photo: Mimi asked Clay Long and Amy Bowman from the Mayor’s Office to join them on stage.)

Every drop counts, Nampa! There are simple steps we can take to encourage a more waterwise lawn.
• Let it grow. Longer grass shades the soil, slowing down evaporation. It doesn't take much - even just an inch can help retain moisture.
• Only water when needed. Our lawns can go without water for longer than we think! If you walk across the lawn and footprints remain, the grass is dehydrated. When you do water, remember that deep and infrequent watering wins.
• Check your aim. Ensure that sprinkler systems are watering the lawn, not sidewalks, roads or gravel.
Small steps add up. Together, we can conserve and protect our shared water resources.

PRESS RELEASE // Nampa City Council Appoints Darl Bruner as Mayor

At tonight’s Nampa City Council meeting, Darl Bruner was appointed as Nampa’s new Mayor. The swearing-in ceremony is expected to be held on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 4:30 p.m., ahead of the regular council meeting which begins at 5:00 p.m. at Nampa City Hall (411 3rd Street South).

The appointment follows the sudden and tragic passing of Nampa Mayor Rick Hogaboam on March 18, 2026, just weeks after being sworn into office. According to Idaho Code § 50-608, the responsibility for filling the vacancy rested with Nampa City Council.

Darl Bruner will serve as Mayor through the next general city election, which will be held in November of 2027, when the citizens of Nampa will have an opportunity to vote.

Opportunities for the community to meet and visit with the Mayor-appointed Bruner is expected to occur later this month.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding through this emotional process.
