You may have noticed some new DOGIPOT stations around the refuge! 🐾 Huge thanks to Rob and our incredible volunteers for helping make them happen. Picking up after pups and keeping them leashed isn’t just good manners—it protects wildlife who call this place home. Consider it paw‑lite behavior! 😉💚

Learning in the wild brings big smiles ☺️

These students from Central Elementary Nampa and Endeavor Elementary joined us for a experiential field trip! They dove into activity stations on adaptations, habitats, conservation, and Deer Flat NWR as a free community resource.

A highlight from this spring was our Earth Day event! 🌎 A huge thank‑you to all the volunteers who joined us to care for this special place. Together, we tackled litter pick‑up, landscaping, noxious w**d removal, seed planting for our environmental education program, and installing new dogipot stations.

Every day is Earth Day when we all pitch in — even the small actions make a big difference. Whether it’s making sure trash finds a bin, picking up after your dog, planting a native flower or two, pulling a few w**ds, or choosing to recycle, your care helps keep wildlife and wild places thriving. 🌿✨

Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate by giving back to the refuge we all love!

Our community gallery walls are now filled with the awesome conservation pledges created by Endeavor Elementary 4th graders and Central Elementary Nampa 5th graders! These students proved that even one small earth‑friendly action can make a big difference. 💚🌎 Come visit their hard work now through July!

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is expanding hunting and fishing opportunities all across the National Wildlife Refuge System and National Fish Hatchery System. For complete details on proposed rules and to provide public comments (due by June 26, 2026), please refer to: https://www.regulations.gov/document/FWS-HQ-NWRS-2026-1223-0001

Proposed changes at Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge include:
• Change of language for hunting of “common snipe” to “snipe”
• Allowing hunting of Eurasian collared-doves and rock doves (feral pigeon) only during the State mourning dove season
