🌾 Cheat Grass Season Is Here! 🐾
We're seeing a lot of cheat grass cases lately, and this pesky plant can cause big problems for our pets.
Cheat grass seeds have sharp, barbed awns that can work their way into your pet's paws, ears, eyes, nose, or skin. Once embedded, they continue to migrate deeper, causing pain, infection, abscesses, and sometimes requiring surgical removal in severe cases.
🚩 Watch for:
• Excessive licking or chewing at the paws
• Sudden sneezing
• Head shaking
• Swelling, redness, or draining wounds
• Limping
🛡️ Prevention tips:
✔️ Avoid areas with tall, dry grass when possible
✔️ Check your pet after walks, hikes, and outdoor play
✔️ Pay special attention to paws, ears, and between the toes
✔️ Keep long hair around feet trimmed
