Nambe Pueblo Domestic Violence Prevention Program

Coordinator; Responsible for the overall administration of the Pueblo’s Domestic
Violence Prevention Program, on-call 24/7 for emergency after hours and weekend for Law Enforcement if a crisis situation occurs for immediate shelter services for the safety of victims and children, facilitates court-ordered or voluntary, Straight Talk Offenders grou

ps separately for men and women or adolescents. The program works closely with Tribal Court, BIA Law Enforcement, and BIA Social Services on referrals of relatives (clients) services. Conducts monthly Coordinated Community Responses team (CCR) with various programs and agencies to ensure victim safety and offender accountability. Collaboration and networking representing Nambe Pueblo on membership with New Mexico State Coalition, Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native, and outside the tribal program, and state agencies. Victim Advocate: Follow-up for victim services referrals from Law Enforcement, Tribal Court, or in-house if domestic violence/intimate partner is reported. Will accompany the victim to court hearings for advocacy and support. Assist with obtaining protection orders for clients, safety planning, case management, referrals to other agencies for legal services, counseling for clients and their children, housing, college GED classes, clothing, food, and housing supplies. Conduct women’s weekly Support Group, meet with clients on a one to one for education and awareness. Transportation for immediate emergency shelter services if needed, services to counseling, group sessions/classes, medical appointments, interviews, anything that is requested from the victim and their children. Children’s Advocate: Available to assist and support children and families exposed to domestic violence in healing from the trauma they have experienced to repair and rebuild the non-abusing/protective parent or caretakers/child relationship impacted by the abuse. Provide art, play, creative, and culturally responsible engagement activities to include: individual and group counseling for non-offending/protective parents and children; education regarding domestic violence, parenting, and the effects on children; skill-building activities that increase trust and communication, safety and strengthening through trauma-informed care of services to non-abusing/protective parent or caretakers/child relationships.
