TIPS FOR TEENS – UNDERAGE DRINKING
Question: IS IT REALLY UNSAFE TO DRINK UNTIL I’M 21?

YES. The risks of underage drinking are high. Research suggests that drinking during the teen years could interfere with normal brain development and increase the risk of developing an alcohol use disorder later in life.

Tonight we celebrated the amazing Dr. Christine Petzing. Her passion, expertise, kindness and commitment to helping others is simply beyond measure! She has served on our board for many years and we will be forever grateful for her amazing work. To know her is to truly love her. She has impacted so many people in our community. I am always in awe of her generosity, sincerity, skill and compassion. We love you Chris! Very best wishes to you and Lou on your next adventure.

UNDERAGE DRINKING – MYTHS VERSUS FACTS

You probably see and hear a lot about alcohol – from TV, movies, music, social media, and your friends. But what are the real facts? What is myth and what are actual facts about alcohol use.

MYTH:​Alcohol isn’t as harmful as other drugs.

FACT:​Your brain doesn’t stop growing until about age 25, and drinking can affect how it develops. Plus, alcohol increases your risk for many diseases, such as cancer. It can also cause you to have accidents and get injured, sending you to the emergency room.
