Nacogdoches Soil & Water Conservation District #401

Nacogdoches Soil & Water Conservation District #401 This is the local Soil and Water Conservation District for Nacogdoches County, Texas. Texas is broken into five zones in which the SWCDs are located.

The Nacogdoches Soil and Water Conservation District is a subdivision of Texas state government. A soil and water conservation district is brought into existence by a vote of the landowners within the boundaries of a district and is administered by a board of five directors who are elected by their fellow landowners. The elected board of directors has the responsibility to develop a program and pl

an of work, which is actually an inventory of the land and water resources and problems of the district. It describes the actual conditions bearing on land and its use and discusses land capabilities, physical conditions, and socio-economic conditions creating conservation problems. Conservation needs and treatment, as well as district policy, are outlined in the document. The program and plan of work also details solutions to problems and resources available to accomplish district objectives. Nacogdoches SWCD falls in Zone four, and works along side the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board (TSSWCB) and the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) to provide landowners and agricultural producers with technical assistance, water quality management plans, and help installing conservation practices. For more information regarding the Nacogdoches SWCD, technical assistance, or development of a WQMP, please feel free to contact us at 936-564-5891.

Healthy soil, healthy life. As simple as it seems, it’s wildly complex…the basis of our lives all starts with the soil beneath our feet. Soil provides the food on our plates, the clothes on our backs, the foundation for our homes and offices, the luscious grass that the children play in, and the trees we need to breathe. It all starts with soil. Check out our Stewardship Week message here: https://bit.ly/3k7mZss
