The City of Nacogdoches has also experienced several car burglaries that the Nacogdoches Police Department is investigating. NPD has made an arrest in the case with suspects who live in another county. These are not the same suspects conducting the BMV’s in the county.

Summary: Although some arrests have been made in these cases, we are still attempting to identify suspects in the North Fork Estates, Melrose, and Cr. 826 BMVs. Forcible entry was also made into one vehicle; however, the rest of the vehicles were left unlocked.

We are asking the public to remain vigilant during the summer months. Please always lock your vehicle and remove any weapons from it. These thieves are mainly looking for two things: cash and weapons. I have several investigators working on these cases, and the Sheriff’s Office will remain proactive in seeking to bring these criminals to justice.

If anyone has any information on these crimes, please contact the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office at 936-560-7777 or Crime Stoppers at 936-560-INFO.

Drug Arrest:
On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan Altima on Highway 59 South, in the northbound lane, for several traffic violations.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was identified as Jevina Marie Coleman, 43 years old, from Nacogdoches, Texas. As deputies identified the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, they found that the driver was a suspect by the Sheriff’s Office in an ongoing investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine.

While speaking with Coleman, they observed that she was very nervous and gave conflicting statements. Deputies suspected criminal activity and requested consent to search the motor vehicle. Coleman denied consent, and deputies requested a K-9 come to the scene.

A deputy with the Nacogdoches County sheriff’s office, along with a certified K-9 detector dog, arrived on scene. The deputy conducted a free air search of the outside of the motor vehicle, in which the K-9 gave a positive alert.

Deputies then conducted a probable cause search of the car. During the search, deputies located over two pounds of methamphetamine along with 4 grams of M**A- Ecstasy, 31 grams of Xanax, and 6 grams of ma*****na.

Coleman was arrested at the scene and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail and charged with the following offenses: Manufacturing or Delivery of a controlled substance, a 1st degree felony, two counts of Possession of a controlled substance, a 3rd degree felony.

At this time, Coleman remains in the Nacogdoches County Jail. Bond was set on all charges at 552,500.00 dollars. This is an ongoing investigation, and the Texas Department of Public Safety assisted in this traffic stop.

Child Exploitation Investigation:

In April 2026, the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office received information that a Nacogdoches resident, later identified as Bryan Christian, was downloading child po*******hy.

The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Texas Attorney General's Office. During the investigation, probable cause was established to obtain a search warrant for Christian’s residence located on Cr. 770 in Nacogdoches County.

On April 22, 2026, Sheriff investigators and officers from the Texas Attorney General's office executed the search warrant. Additional investigators also contacted the suspect at his workplace. Officers had gained information that the suspect was also downloading child po*******hy.

Investigators made contact with Christian and also seized his phone as evidence. During the interview, Christian admitted to the offense and allowed investigators to search his phone, which revealed evidence of child po*******hy. A further search of Christian revealed a loaded handgun in his possession, which he was not allowed to have at his workplace.

Christian was arrested at the scene and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail. He has been charged with three counts of Child Po*******hy, a 3 rd degree felony. After downloading some electronic devices that belonged to Christian, investigators obtained additional warrants for his arrest. The warrants were served on April 23, 2026, for three counts of Possession or promotion of child po*******hy, a 1st degree felony, and unlawfully carrying a weapon, where weapons are prohibited, a class A misdemeanor.

At this time, Bryan Christian, 39 years of age, remains in the Nacogdoches County Jail. Bond has been set on all charges at 1,653,00.00 dollars. All electronics seized in the case will be further analyzed, and more charges are likely. This investigation is ongoing by the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Attorney General's Office.

ETOILE – Emergency management personnel from several collaborating agencies remain on-site to address the blowout of a natural gas well in Etoile. The fire was initially reported at 11:20 p.m on April 20, and units from Etoile Volunteer Fire Department and several other local VFD’s joined Nacogdoches Fire Department in the initial fire response.

At this time, the site has been contained and personnel from Wild Well Control have taken over containment of the fire and will begin the process of mitigating the blaze in accordance with their protocols. On Monday, April 20, 2026, at 11:17 pm, the Nacogdoches County Combined Dispatch received numerous calls of a loud explosion in the Etoile area. Nacogdoches County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the scene. While responding, deputies could see a large fire burning near the Etoile area while traveling through the Woden area. Numerous other first responders were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, deputies found that an oil well site had exploded and was on fire in the 15000 block of FM 226. Deputies met with workers at the oil well site who had evacuated from the scene with no injuries reported.
Residents on CR. 561 were evacuated out of precaution. FM 226 from Highway 103 to the Kingtown area is closed until further notice.
We are asking residents on CR. 560, 559, 5591 to Shelter in Place or to voluntarily evacuate the area.
After speaking with representatives of the oil well site, we do not believe there is any further danger at this time. However, this is a fluid situation and could change quickly. Residents who remain in the area should be on notice and ready to evacuate if needed.
We will keep you up to date as this situation further evolves.
Parents of children who currently attend Woden ISD should monitor Woden ISD for bus routes that could be affected. We anticipate that FM 226 will remain closed into the morning hours.
