Prayers for this family

Overnight a massive 3 alarm blaze in Houston has taken the life of an HFD firefighter and injured another. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the firefighters and all of HFD today.

Nacogdoches County Burn Ban has been lifted effective today.

On 10/25/24 at approximately 1944 hours, Loco-Valley VFD, Douglass VFD, Lake Nacogdoches VFD, South Nacogdoches VFD and Centrah Heights VFDs were dispatched to the 1100 block of Sandyland Circle in reference to a fully involved mobile home fire. Douglass VFD arrived on scene first and verified it was actually a travel trailer that had caught fire, and was fully involved. All other VFDs were cancelled once Douglass VFD verified they had enough personnel, water supply and equipment on scene. Douglass VFD and Loco-Valley VFD stayed on location working the fire. Douglass VFD was able to get the blaze out quickly without any other property loss. We want to thank all responding departments, including Nacogdoches EMS being on standby. These Departments were ready to go to assist neighboring departments in a moments notice and we appreciate it. No injuries and No other property loss was reported.

Nacogdoches County - Effective immediately - BURN BAN IN EFFECT

We’re under a High Fire Danger today (October 13th). Continued dry conditions along with temperatures in the 90’s this afternoon, humidity levels falling below 30% between 3pm to 6pm and wind gusts up to 25mph today will make conditions prime for fast moving fires. These conditions will continue until we receive some rain and humidity levels build back up in our area.
Although we’re not under a Burn Ban, please do not burn if you do not have to. Use extreme caution if you must burn anything. Within the last week, there have been several “control burns” that have burned out of controlled and required fire departments to extinguish. Please call 911 to report any fire that is out of control.
