Thoughts on the Assassination of Charlie Kirk
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.” – Psalm 37:7
Many have reached out and asked me to share my detailed thoughts on the brutal assassination of Charlie Kirk. I am still trying to process the events of yesterday, but I will do my best to relay my thoughts clearly. If you agree, please share this post and let us pray and mourn together.
Yesterday, we witnessed the brutal murder of Charlie Kirk in the presence of his wife and children. On a college campus, where free speech and open exchange of ideas should prevail, Charlie was murdered for sharing his faith and beliefs. While I am still trying to process the anger, frustration, grief, and other emotions from this event, I want to focus on a few points or lessons from this tragedy that Charlie would want us, as the conservative movement, to take to heart.
First, our values are worth the fight. Standing up for principles of faith, family, and free speech is of vital importance. We live in a world that is slowly attempting to kill the values that we have held dear in our beloved country for so many years. If we are not careful, our children will grow up in a world where these values are not evident. This is why Charlie focused on the young generation. If these values are to live on in the United States of America, they must be instilled in the minds and hearts of our youth.
Second, we must know the cost of standing up to fight. We can no longer deny that we now live in a world where sharing the gospel, defending innocent life, and promoting free speech will paint a target on your back. From the attempted assassination of President Trump in Pennsylvania, to the murder of federal judges, and now the assassination of Charlie, we have seen this proved time and time again. In a video from several years ago, Charlie was asked about the dangers of his work. His reply in paraphrase: I know the dangers of my work, but the truth is worth sharing and the fight must be fought; they will try to kill me for it, but I must press forward. It cost him his life. Let us not forget.
Third, there is a clear divide between the political parties of our country. We have a party that defends human life, and a party that degrades human life at every turn. The liberal party has, for years, encouraged the practice of abortion, killing children recently born, euthanasia, and has openly encouraged on social media the violence that we witnessed yesterday. The difference in the two parties has never been clearer. If more evidence is needed, please go watch the video of U.S. House Democrats booing, yelling, and cursing when Republicans attempted to hold a moment of silence/prayer for Charlie following the attack. I was appalled when watching the footage. Christians, the choice is abundantly clear. If you are still defending the liberal party, you now have no ground to stand on.
In conclusion, Charlie would tell the conservative movement to take courage. The Scriptures tell us not to hold onto anger, but to trust that the Lord will deliver vengeance. We are told to have no fear, for the Lord will deliver us. Charlie ended his earthly walk, but he is now with Jesus. I pray that the terrible events of yesterday will light a fire in the lives of our young people and in Christians across the globe. That we will know the cost of the fight, but will take courage and still take a stand because the importance of the truths for which we fight cannot be stated strongly enough. I ask that we all keep Mrs. Kirk and her two children in our prayers. This grief will stay with them forever, but God offers a peace beyond understanding.
May Charlie’s death not be in vain but may it fuel the fire of the conservative movement to stand up for truth, biblical values, life, and the very essence of our country’s founding principles. May we do it all for the glory of God and run our race with courage. The time to fight is now. Let us take a stand.
