This week is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 2026.
Dispatchers are the first first responders. They are your first contact in an emergency. They provide a listening ear while at the same time sending the help that is needed. They are the listening ears that help keep all first responders safe while they do their jobs. Dispatchers find the calm in the chaos.

This week we thank our dispatchers for always having our backs.

🚨 Community Notice – Training Exercise 🚨

On Thursday, April 9th starting at 6:00 PM, the Mystic Island Fire Company will be participating in a scheduled training exercise in Eagleswood Township.

As part of this drill, you will see multiple fire apparatus in the area of Sea Pirate Campground, including units from outside of our immediate area. This is planned training only and not an emergency incident.

These exercises are critical to ensuring our members—and our mutual aid partners—are prepared to operate together effectively when real emergencies occur.

PRESCRIBED FIRE NOTIFICATION: Monday, March 30

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service plans to conduct prescribed fire operations today, March 30, in the following counties: Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Mercer, Ocean & Sussex.

🔗 View the Forest Fire Service’s Prescribed Fire Notifications map to see active and upcoming prescribed fire activities: https://dep.nj.gov/parksandforests/wildfire/prescribed-fire-notifications/

This schedule is weather dependent and subject to change. If in doubt about the source of smoke or fire, call 9-1-1 or 877-WARN-DEP (877-927-6337).

ABOUT PRESCRIBED FIRE
There are multiple benefits to prescribed fire, which is a safe, effective and efficient means of managing the buildup of forest fuels that may contribute to the start and spread of a wildfire. By actively eliminating sources of fuel that exacerbate forest fire risks through a prescribed fire program, the Forest Fire Service reduces risk to New Jersey residents, visitors and the environment.

Prescribed fire improves habitat for plants and animals, reduce the presence of damaging insects and ticks, and recycle nutrients into the soil. In addition, prescribed fire is an important part of the state’s carbon defense strategy. Allowing experts to choose the intensity, timing and interval of fire across the landscape may help prevent a larger uncontrolled wildfire, which would contribute to significant carbon loss. Typically, the implementation of most prescribed fire take place between February and early April.

** Weather Update **

As the winter storm continues to bring heavy snow and high winds to our area, the Little Egg Harbor Police Department reminds all residents to refrain from unnecessary and non-essential travel.

We are currently experiencing a significant increase in call volume related to disabled vehicles, downed trees and impassable roadways. Due to this high demand, please refrain from calling the Police Department for non-emergent situations.

Additionally, as plowing operations continue, we ask all residents to remove vehicles from the roadways so that crews can clear them effectively.

Thank you for your cooperation and stay safe.
