SAVANNAH'S PLAYGROUND REOPENS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4! 🥳🤩

Make plans to bring the kiddos to the City of Myrtle Beach's ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4. The playground has been closed throughout the winter season to complete upgrades. Those upgrades include new turf surfacing, sunshades and equipment. Kids can play on the playground immediately after!

We hope you will join us for the reopening of the newly renovated adaptive playground. Savannah's Playground is located at 1010 Crabtree Lane, next to Crabtree Memorial Gym in The Market Common.

The renovations to Savannah's Playground are running a bit behind schedule due to winter weather. Contractors are working hard to complete this project quickly while still paying attention to detail. We hope to reopen the park in late February. Stay tuned for more information. We are eager to welcome everyone back to one of Myrtle Beach's most popular playgrounds!

The construction at Savannah’s Playground is almost complete!

Work has been underway since October renovating Myrtle Beach’s most popular playground. New equipment has been installed, which includes a new climbing wall, fitness equipment and an inclusive wheelchair swing. Some other play structures were replaced due to damage or being out of date, like the musical features at “Harmony Park.”
The large new sunshades are up, too! As you can see, most of the large play area is now fully shaded. Crews are currently installing the new synthetic turf surfacing and finishing landscaping updates, which are the last on the list.
The playground is on schedule to reopen in the coming weeks, weather permitting. Stay tuned for a more specific date as we get closer. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Savannah’s Playground!

Savannah’s Playground is temporarily closed for renovations starting today, October 13‼️🛠

The park will remain closed for the rest of 2025 and is expected to reopen in early 2026. The renovation is the playground’s first major upgrade since opening in 2016.

The $2.1 million project includes new synthetic turf, added sunshades and equipment improvements. The playground is in The Market Common, behind Crabtree Memorial Gym, 1004 Crabtree Lane.

SAVANNAH'S PLAYGROUND RENOVATIONS START MONDAY, OCTOBER 13! 🛠

Myrtle Beach's popular Savannah's Playground is getting a "mini reni" starting October 13. The playground will be closed to the public while construction is underway.

The upgrades to Savannah's Playground were approved in Myrtle Beach's FY26 budget. The $2.1 million dollar price tag includes new, synthetic turf, sun shades and equipment improvements. This is the first major renovation since the park opened in 2016.

Work is scheduled to be complete by the beginning of next year. Stay tuned for updates!

A "mini reni" is coming to Savannah's Playground!

Today, June 24, Myrtle Beach City council voted to approve a $71,155.66 grant from the South Carolina Parks, Recreation and Sports Tourism Parks and Recreation Development (PARD) Fund. The grant money will go towards the $2.1 million renovation price tag for Savannah’s playground in FY26.

The improvements will replace the rubber surfacing with new, synthetic turf and sunshades throughout the park. The current surfacing and shade sails are nearly 10 years old and have worn down over time.

The fully adaptable turf will still accommodate children of all abilities. Work is scheduled to begin later this year. Stay tuned for more!

During the winter months, the hours are adjusted to keep the youngsters from playing in the dark… But as summer begins, everyone will have more time to play in the sunlight! Savannah's Playground will be closed next Monday through Wednesday, March 31 - April 2, for routine maintenance. Parks crews will be making repairs and resurfacing some areas of the playground. The playground will reopen to the public Thursday, April 3, weather permitting. If the weather is unfavorable one of the maintenance days, that may delay the opening. Stay tuned for updates!

Winter is coming to Myrtle Beach... And we’re sad to announce that as the days get shorter, so do the hours at Savannah’s Playground. From November 1 through February 28, Savannah’s Playground is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The hours are adjusted to keep youngsters from playing in the dark. The hours extend when we "spring forward" in March.

Tuesday is maintenance day, so the playground opens at 12:00 p.m. Crews thoroughly check the facility weekly to ensure it's safe for everyone to play.
