For 251 years, the United States Army has stood ready to defend our nation, protect our freedoms, and answer the call of duty wherever needed.

Today, we honor the Soldiers, Veterans, Families, and Civilians whose service, sacrifice, and commitment have shaped our Army's proud legacy.

While the election did not end as we had hoped, I remain deeply grateful to everyone who stood with me throughout this journey.
Over the past few months, we built something meaningful together. We shared a message grounded in service, integrity, and purpose. We had important conversations, met wonderful people across the community, and showed what can be accomplished in a short time with faith, hard work, and support.
Thank you to every person who encouraged me, prayed for me, volunteered, shared a kind word, or supported this campaign in any way. I will never forget it.

Although this campaign has come to a close, my commitment to serving others has not. I will continue supporting young people in our community and working to make a positive difference where I can.

Service has always been part of who I am, and that will not change.

Thank you again for being part of this journey with me.

I am proud to be a candidate in the Republican Primary for Horry County School Board District 3, and I would be honored to earn your vote on June 9, 2026. For more than 37 years, I have served others as an Army officer, educator, and district leader, and I would like to share more of my story with you.

I grew up in South Carolina, where I learned the values that have guided me throughout my life. After high school, I enlisted in the United States Army to earn money for college. That three-year enlistment helped me pay my tuition at the University of South Carolina, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree and was selected to serve as an active-duty Army officer in the Military Police Corps. I proudly served our nation in the United States and abroad, in both peacetime and war, for 24 years.
After retiring from the military, I chose to continue serving as a high school teacher, where I mentored, coached, and taught young leaders.

Ten years ago, I was appointed Director of JROTC and Physical Education for Horry County Schools, where I served honorably for nine years and personally witnessed how we meet the needs of students and support our teachers. In retirement, I have remain active in the community by mentoring, teaching flag etiquette, reading to students, and serving as a Scout leader, and Board Member for the Waccamaw Youth Center.

My leadership experience and commitment to service have shaped every chapter of my life. I remain committed to supporting the families of Carolina Forest and to helping ensure our schools are guided by integrity, purpose, and a strong commitment to student success. My commitment to service has taken me around the world, and now I am asking for the opportunity to bring that same commitment to the families of Horry County.

I am asking for your support, your vote, and your trust. Together, we can ensure that Horry County’s schools are led with integrity and purpose.

Recently, I was asked what makes me different as a candidate for the school board. The answer is simple: a lifetime of serving young people.

For more than 25 years, I have worked with youth as a Sunday School teacher, Scout leader, teacher, district leader, and nonprofit community leader. Those experiences have shaped my heart for service and strengthened my commitment to the next generation.

While stationed in Afghanistan, I will never forget the thank-you letters, pictures, and words of encouragement from students that gave us strength when the mission became difficult. Those moments reminded me that investing in young people is always part of something bigger than ourselves.
I am running because I believe in the future of our students and in the leaders they can become. I will serve with integrity and lead with purpose.

Last night, I had the opportunity to participate in a community forum hosted by the Carolina Forest Civic Association alongside the other candidates for Horry County School Board District 3. I appreciated the chance to discuss the issues that matter most to our schools, our students, and our families.

During the forum, I shared that the health and safety of our students must remain our highest priority—from the moment they leave home until they return. We must continue taking thoughtful, proactive steps to ensure students and staff are safe and able to focus on teaching and learning.

I also emphasized the importance of planning for our growing student population so we have the facilities, resources, and support needed to provide the best possible learning environment. In addition, I spoke about how my experience as a district leader has given me firsthand knowledge of how our school system operates and what it takes to support student success and empower teachers.

Thank you to the Carolina Forest Civic Association for providing this opportunity for open community dialogue.

Five candidates for Horry County school board positions answered questions from the community at a forum.
